I just got back from a trip to Little Rock, AR last week (went down to pick up my Miata and drive it back). I was AMAZED to see RX-8s EVERYWHERE down there -- literally dozens of them on the road.

They are still a great car, even with the 2-rotor mill. Poor man's NSX.

The Renesis is close to being maxed out from the factory, intakes and exhausts don't yield much more power gains. If you want more gotta go FI, there are alotta great Turbo and Supercharger kits for the RX8 now.

So did they drop the "R3" label? Or is the "Type RS" the JDM only name?

redline's at 9, fuel cut is 9.4? or so?

the 8.5 dashed red area denotes when the car beeps at you to tell you to upshift

Great handling car, but the poor fuel economy kills it for me. I had one for a few months.

Yup, I'm fine with the idea of a small torqueless motor you have to rev the hell out of. What I'm not fine with is the combination of no torque and V8 fuel economy.

RS is JDM R3 is US. This is mostly a cosmetic refresh. They made a few small tweaks to improve the 0-60 but not much. You can't just up the boost or increase the bore like you can on other cars during a refresh. Either its go FI and we know how well that worked for the RX7 or build a better/larger Rotary which they are doing.

Here is hoping we see an RX7 before long.

You guys always kill me on the mileage thing and oil. I average 19MPG (usually about 250 miles with a 13gal fill up) with no highway driving and multiple redlines per day. I add a quart of oil every 3000 miles or so.

I've yet to find a car for me that is all of these things:

Beautiful
Great Handling
Huge Power
Well Appointed
Affordable

The RX8 for me gets 4/5

My coworker has one and he complains about the gas mileage. He says he gets around 14-15 mpg with mixed driving.

Too me that's unacceptable. I already get 16 mpg on my STi with ALL city driving. If the RX8 had quite a bit more hp, that'd be a different story. Still, I'll have to agree that it hits 4/5 of those attributes you listed.

The new remodel makes it more attractive.

I'm still waiting to see how a DI Renesis would fair... I'm surprised this refresh doesn't have direct injection, I heard talks that it was coming...
