What is their power requirements? If they are 100W I would not trust them.

Just did this mod after owning my new WRX for two weeks. The original bulbs left some to be desired.

I bought two phillips bulbs from Amazon for $15 to my door. Such a great mod. Thanks for the post and backing it up with temps!

Installed a pair of sylvania oem grade H9s, they really put out a lot of light. I used a pocket knife and a small file to take off the extra plastic. It wasn't hard with a good light and patience. Now I'm wondering what I need to replace the high beams with, 9006? Does it have to be HIR or is that just optimal?

(the factory set up should be no low beam while the high beam is on)
Mine have always ran both with the highs on. I did notice on my first drive that with the highs on the lows out did the highs and made the cutoff of the projectors clear. Looking foward to doing something with the highs as their now stock

Risky, the high temperature and current draw will melt something, eventually. Really not worth the long term trouble especially that you gain so much by getting rid of the H11s..

i emailed daniel stern about this and apparently these do not exist. no one makes a +50 or high efficiency version of the H9, and that it is already the highest performing halogen bulb available.

An Osram, Sylvania, GE, Philips, or Tungsram H9 will be fine

I finally got an opportunity to drive my car in complete darkness the other day. The difference between the stock bulbs and these H9's is huge! I love the light now and am also happy that I do not have to run obnoxiously bright HID's to get great visibility at night.

hey i went to advance auto parts and picked up some osram h9's for my 09 wrx and i have to ask, did anyone have any trouble getting them installed? i've changed many bulbs in different cars and these dont seem to fit. It seems that for almost everyone, they went in as easy as they came out, but not for me.

I filed down the appropriate part and my bulbs look identical to those on page 1 used for this tutorial, but they do not want to fit.

any help is appreciated
thanks

You are installing them in the low beams port (behind the battery on drivers side) and not the high beams port, right?
