I can't argue that point, I checked my reservoir before my trip last weekend and it does look green. But it isn't

Is it just me, or does the 12+ wagon rear end look an awful lot like those Saab 9-2x's..?

A bit, but I have to admit, they are a wee bit too similar to the damned dodge caliber. I hardly notice it any more, but when my impreza was new lots of folks pointed out the similarity.

So I decided to check my engine air filter today after about 22,800 miles and this is what I found!

Definitely seems like it was time for a new filter, order up an AEM dry filter and just installed it. Glad I checked now as opposed to the 30k recommended interval.

Have we decided upon our headers being equal or unequal? Was browsing some other posts about the older n/a version of the Impreza and it sounds as if the true "boxer sound" comes from the header length.. I am newer to Subaru's, so I don't have any input about that. Just curious as I'm doing my axleback soon..

Until the last decade most cars had the standard oci of 3000 miles. I remember owners manuals saying that the filter should be checked/replaced every oil change.
Unless they are some sort of "synthetic" filters (jk) I really dont see how they are supposed to be good for 30k...
Mine get replaced or at least cleaned every oil change to this day. I get a lot of bugs in mine so its usually pretty easy to tap them out and reinstall the filter.

Since you seem so well versed in these cars, is there a way to bypass the fogs shutting off when you go to high beam aside from adding a diode?

Yeah, I'll make note to check it more often

At least the AEM filter I have in there now is oil-less and can be rinsed clean

You cannot use fog lights and high beams at the same time legally (except off-road) in most states, that is why they shut off when the high beams are turned on.

I'd like to hear the reasoning behind that.

It's something about having a maximum of 2 sets of lights illuminated at one time. That's how it is here in MA. Not sure why, probably to stop people from blinding other drivers at night

I'm retrofitting my headlights--something that is already illegal as hell.

I have dark tint. Illegal.

I speed. Illegal.

Ultimately, I don't care.

Retrofitting headlights isn't illegal.

Modifying a DOT-approved part is illegal.

It isn't in federal highway codes, just the law in most states.

You don't care? I'm proud of you. Do you want a medal to go with whatever citations you might receive?

Actually I don't care about that, just don't wimper if you do get tickets for following your dream.

Also, I should note: If you're using your high beams, you really don't need to have your fog lights on anyways, and vice versa.

Unless you're one of the idiots that drive with the fog lights on 100% of the time.

I'm one of those idiots. If my headlights are on, so are my fogs. My car is black, so I do whatever I can to increase the odds that people see me. I don't do it to help me see.

Turn them off! j/k, it doesn't really bother me

I was mainly speaking to in inclement weather you'd most likely have your fogs on, and you wouldn't have a need for the high beams (counter productive).

My "high beams" are BMW X6 LED fog lights, so I will wire up my car as needed despite what internet geniuses think:

Not really.

Personally, I speed on occasion however I do my best not to give LEO's reasons to pull me over or cite me, or if I do get pulled over, not to cite me for additional infractions (like dark tint, lol).

But you seem like a very mature and charming person, I'm sure that would never happen to you.
