2 small bolts and a few clips. It's easy to do!

I didn't feel any difference with the front and rear shifter bushings..I bought the shift linkage bushings, but didnt go through the hassle and sold them. Short throw is good to go with the bushings. But still feels really chunky getting through the synchros with it. 6 speed tranny swap? I think yes.

What Dillon said. Well to be more specific, just take out the the carpet trim thats on the deck lid by popping out the push-in clips with a screwdriver, remove the two bolts that hold the trim piece together (5/16"/10mm??) and it pops out. Oh and your gonna need a phillips head to remove the license plate light housing and then your good to go.

I got one of the C-mod grilles for $100. When I first pulled it out of the box I felt a little ripped off. It's seriously just a piece of fiberglass with some mesh on it. There weren't any holes in it for the clips along the top. I had to drill the holes myself, I kinda missed and the grille doesn't fit on the bumper very well and the mesh would get pushed out when I go through the carwash. I since have gotten a '10 2.5i grille and I have been rocking that.
I have been debating going back to the C-mod, but I would need to secure the mesh better (probably hot glue) and maybe use some tape (probably 3M) instead of the clips along the top. Old pic is old. |

Did my short shifter almost a year ago, wish I would have done these at the same time. You'll enjoy every minute of the install , be sure to give yourself plenty of room down there as you're working in tight quarters.

I have a special interior panel remover tool that should come in handy. Hopefully the hole(s) left where the trim piece would go isn't too big, it's going to rain the next few days and I'll be covering up any holes with tape while the body shop does the paint work on it. Can't wait to get it back on there. It's gonna look so much better body colored along with de-badging. |

Make sure to use a rag or microfiber towel with the tool so you don't scratch the paint!

I took the lightbulbs out, taped the housings up, rubber-banded them together, taped them up together w/ the excess wire, put that bundle into plastic bag, taped that up, then taped the whole bundle to the spot where the trim piece was. Glad I did this mod though because the gromet that held the wires in place coming out of the trunk lid was pushed in letting water come inside the trunk. It was impossible to see that w/ the trim on top. It must have been a mistake during assembly. It was a pain, but I fished the gromet through the hole and now that's fixed for when I reassemble everything. I taped up the other mounting holes and it's all watertight for the coming few days of rain. Now I just have to drive over there and drop off the chrome piece to be painted. She'll be looking sharp when it's all back together though! edit- they were 8mm nuts holding it on... |
