What's the widest tire that can be put on the 2.5i?
Without any rubbing, and staying with 17" diameter wheels.
Thanks,

Yeah, sorry my bad. I meant the stock 16 x 6.5 12-spoke wheels. Might as well ask about 17" too. So what is the widest tire that will fit on the 16 x 6.5 wheels, and also what is the widest 17 x ? wheel/tire that I can fit without modifying the fender.
Thanks! |

with 08s I've been told we could run some wide tires. I'm currently running 17x8 with 225/45/17. I have about 20-30mm between tire and strut so I prob could have went with 235/40/17 tires. offset is +48. I had my rear fenders rolled but it wasn't necessary. hope this gives you a better picture of what you want to go with. Plus its lowered about an inch on SPT pink springs

Forgive me if this is a stupid question, but wouldn't putting wider tires on a wheel that is meant for the less wide tires (205) be a bad thing? I mean, wouldn't it look kind of silly?

A wheel of a particular width is capable of holding tires of various sizes. However, if one goes overboard, then yes, it would not only look silly but will be unsafe to drive on.

Very nice Zordos! Thanks. I wish you had a pix from the rear. Are you planning on lowering the car some more to close that wheel gap?

I have 18" x 7.5 RSL Pro Elite Titanium wheels & 225/40 BFGoodrich G-Force Sports. I like the wheels, it's a different look than most wheels I see around and they're very light, but also get damaged really easily on curbs ... The tires have great grip dry or wet, but they can be loud on concrete roads. The noise level on most blacktop is fairly low, so it can be surprising when you drive over bridges and other concrete areas. My 1st impression when going from blacktop to concrete is "What's wrong with the car !!!", because of the increase in noise & vibration ... then I remember ... its just the tires. Ah yes! 18x8.5 w/245 width tires should be as big as anyone would need to put on a 2.5i (without it looking completely rediculous). And I'd imagine less than .01% of US people happen to have a non-turbo WRB car with GFX like Zordos (SOA = fail) sitting around to put some fat tires and rims on.

I know this may be absurd but the deal is almost too good to pass up. I have a buddy selling his 18x9.5" +38 avid av06 wheels with some 225/40/18 tires for a very good price. I was wondering if these would fit on stock suspension with no fender mods?
Also the wheels are for an 09 sti so they are 5x4.5" which would mean I have to get a 1 inch spacer. So would these even fit? He seems to think they will, but I don't want to buy them if they won't fit. |

^might want to check your bolt pattern. I think 2.5 use 5x100 unless they change for the current model.
