Default How much for a swapped car and what to look for?

Hi, would you buy a car that has been swapped and converted from NA to turbo WRX engine? Hard to say if the owner has abused the car and raced it everywhere, but is it safe to assume that?

How would you value the car with the chassis miles, and the engine miles?

I'm looking at a 2.5RS with a WRX conversion. I mainly want to know what problems to look out for, and the price to go for.

the only way i would buy one like that is if i knew the owner well enough toknow the history of the car... and how good of a swap job he did...how good of a deal is he gonna cut you? if its a crazy deal then maybe... but its iffy most ways you look at it.

That is true about DIY swapping, what kind of problems might you run into with these swaps?

What about from a reputable conversion shops, like East Coast Swappers, LIC motorsports or Garage Tuning?

it isn't hard to verify if it's a good swap or not. Just ask the right questions. what was kept? A/c, ABS, ect. Is there a constant CEL, or a delete on the tune. There are specific variables in a swap that are not going to work in certain cars. Specificly some EVAP stuff the WRX has the GC wont.

I swapped my car myself, but has Zephyr do my mapping of my harness. I've never had wiring issues and I'm going on 2 years with the swap and 40k miles. Only thing that's gone wrong for me was a blown idler for the timing belt. Which was from reusing my old ones cause I was cheap, and that cost me over a grand after renting a car ect.

it's not difficult to located a hacked swap, just like buying any other car in my book.

There are two types of people that buy swaps.

1. Those that buy swaps and ask no questions.
2. Those that shouldn't buy swaps.

Now you might not like my opinion, but it's 99.885% true.

Mostly they wont ask the ?'s cause they only care that it goes "pissh" when the shift and has rims.

Still a believer that if you want a swap, do it yourself, then when you're done you wont be happy with it casue it's not perfect enough, get pissed you're out of money, and resort to amish rake fighting for fundage.

I would like to swap it myself, still trying to learn parts and detailed ends to doing a swap. Right now I do not have the time and space to do one, and I see one available. Just seeing the approximate price in getting a used one.

How much would a working WRX engine, transmission, brakes, driveline and other swap parts be? say 50,000 miles

We can't answer this at all. The going prices for these items is from $0 to $10,000 as we live in a market economy. I have a $1 STI hoodscoop on my car for example. I just picked up some new to me used struts for $0 + shipping yesterday. Swaps are projects that take time and money....if you have the time, the money follows.
