That is the XT. High performance models always show off nice tips. The Eco friendly models might hide them. It needs quad like the WRX!

The rear tail lights have always been a major key to the overall "look" of the Forester. This '14's tails are, so far, very homely lookin'.

The rear now has the corporate 'face' also. The impreza, legacy, and forester now all look much more related. I likes and think its a smart move.
How does a taillight look homely?

I'm beginning to wonder if Subaru feels compelled to add a measure of ugliness just to test our loyalty?

I don't think Subaru has made anything truly good looking in the last 10 years. Passable, obviously, as I purchased two, but not good looking.

Aside from the BRAT, Subaru has always produced frumpy, ugly cars.

Beauty is in the eye of the beer-holder.

I think the term you're looking for is 'quirky'.

As you say that, you should include pretty much the entire line. The B.R.A.T. was just a cut version of the line. Just like the Baja is/was.

And I agree with KC. I have always liked Subaru's looks except(as weird as this is) the ones people here like. I am definitely not a fan of the bugeye "look".

Nobody should be a fan of the stock bugeye look. Modified bugeye is the only way to go.

I have a soft spot for 1998-2004 Legacy GT Limited sedan. I want one as a winter beater next year, possibly, or whenever I stop buying new Subarus.

On-Topic:
The rear of the Forester looks like it could use large exhaust tips. I'm glad they're still dual. Curious about the lack of hoodscoop... Maybe taking a cue from Mazdaspeed 3 pre-2010? I loved the look of that car.

Subaru brings five-year new car warranty
At the AGM of the Subaru dealer has Dannath Volker, Managing Director of the German importer, explode the bomb. With the launch of the new Forester in March 2013 led to the producers a five-year new car warranty. "We are a niche player, selling quality and high-quality cars. We continue with our full warranty, including a warranty with mobility, special characters for the competition on the German car market," said Dannath last Saturday in Würzburg.
Dannath laid just after a second highlight: "It will be for the new Forester no increase in price." Coinciding with the Forester is on 23 and 24 March 2013 introduced the new Impreza. And for May, the Chief Executive of the Outback diesel as automatic version. Subaru wants so set next year well above the 10,000-unit limit.
The current Chief of the dealers association was confirmed by election in office. Chairman Thomas Knauber denounced in his speech questionable Internet sites, "which are to the detriment of the entire organization." Special concern was for the upcoming new models clear and timely pricing, reliable delivery and a sufficient number of vehicles.
Ulrich, managing director of FFS Bank, spoke about the bond with the new partner, "German Motor Trade Bank" (BDK) and ALD Lease Finance. He made it clear that the FFS bank is not sold. Man: "We will continue to exist as FFS Then add great value our shareholders.". (hb)

Actually this is the current generation below.

The taillights on the 2014 Subaru Forester slant near the bottom and top. Also, I believe the spoiler with brake light has made a comeback with the 2014. As you can see on my 2012, the top rear brake light is inside and behind the rear window. The 2014 has a brake light within the rear spoiler. They're trying to make the 2014 less boxy. It's obvious in the taillights and the shape of the rear door window

If they were smart all Turbo models (and maybe Limited/Touring) would get the lit C. They also need to start incorporating the led solid tails (not the dots, but the solid bar like Audi and the Subaru concept cars).

No, there is something wrong with your computer. Try a different web browser, mine's working great with google chrome.

Anyone want to guess price increases? Will Subaru go for same price point as previous model or go for the $300-500 increase?

My guess would be a $2-300 increase.
