their website doesn't really help sell what they're actually about.

they sell off-season designer clothes as well as the other stuff we use to keep those things in good condition.

for women, it may make them look dated and slow to catch on to new fashions

for men who need professional clothing, it's a goldmine.

suits, collared shirts, jeans, socks, t-shirts, v-necks, underwear...

all at much lower prices than one would expect.
there are three near me...whoda thought...i dont need to be professional...yet...depends if i find a job that demands attire other than jeans and tshirts...thanks for the info and ill check them out some time

Marshalls and Tjmaxx are like twins, even the tags on the merchandise and the receipts are nearly identical, only difference being the logos.

never checked out ross, but I will be on the lookout.

Miss USA is a huge science and history geek!

USA Today Article

Miss USA: 'I'm a huge history geek'

By Ann Oldenburg, USA TODAY
Updated 1h 25m ago

Miss California, Alyssa Campanella of Los Angeles, was crowned the new Miss USA last night. And one of the personal facts she revealed during the show is that she "a huge history buff."

MORE: She's also a "Science geek"

When co-hosts Giuliana Rancic and Andy Cohen asked about her collection of history books, the blonde-turned-redhead replied, "I'm obsessed with the Tudor and Stuart era. Whenever I go to Barnes and Noble, I'm in the history section. That is where you'll find me. I'm a huge history buff."

Her proof? She didn't mention Thomas Jefferson or either World War: "I watch Game of Thrones. I watch Camelot. I know those are fantasy. But I also watch The Tudors. I'm a huge history geek."

Campanella will move on to compete in The Miss Universe Pageant, scheduled for Sept. 12 in Sao Paolo, Brazil.

Give her a sammich or three and she's be my dream girl!!

Supercomputers may be 500 times faster within seven years. The singularity approaches.

SGI, Intel Plan to Speed up Supercomputers 500 Times by 2018

Posted on Monday Jun 20, 2011 5:20 AM by Agam Shah

Silicon Graphics International hopes by 2018 to build supercomputers 500 times faster than the most powerful today, using specially designed accelerator chips made by Intel, SGI's chief technology officer said. SGI hopes to bring a massive performance boost to its supercomputers through highly parallel processors based on Intel's MIC (many integrated cores) architecture, said Eng Lim Goh, CTO at SGI. In conjunction with Xeon server CPUs, the MIC chips will run millions of threads in parallel, which will help scale supercomputer performance.
Quote:
In the pipeline is Intel's first commercial MIC chip, code-named Knights Corner, with more than 50 cores. Hengeveld declined to provide a shipping date for Knights Corner, but said the chip will be made using the 22-nanometer manufacturing process. The current Knights Ferry chip is made using the 45-nm process.

thats crazy

Quote:
But the evolution answers would make Answers in Genesis -- the folks behind the Creation Museum and the upcoming Noah's Ark theme park -- proud.

One after another of the contestants, like Miss Maryland, confused the evolution of species with the origin of life (not the same) or said a variation of Miss Michigan's line that it's "silly" and "ignorant" not to know "both sides" including, evidently, religious views in public schools.

Three were flat out opposed: Miss Kentucky, home state of the Creation Museum; Miss Alaska who assures us "each of us was individually created by God for a purpose"; and Miss Alabama who doesn't believe in evolution.

Only Miss Massachusetts and Campanella stood up for Darwin.

The eventual winner (with an on-air question about legalizing marijuana -- she said medically yes, otherwise no) said,

Quote:
I was taught evolution in high school. I do believe in it. I'm a huge science geek...I like to believe in the big bang theory and, you know, the evolution of humans throughout time.
Sunday night on the main stage, the first runner-up -- Miss Tennessee Ashley Durham -- was asked if burning religious books is protected by the same First Amendment free speech rules that cover burning an American flag.

She went with an answer that appeared to make the U.S. Constitution optional:

Quote:

I know that some people view it as a freedom of speech, however, burning the American flag is not patriotic at all. No American citizen should do that, and you should also respect other religions. I'm a Christian and a faithful person. I would personally not appreciate someone burning the Bible, and that's just a line you do not cross.

Not sure where that legal implication is drawn from. She talked around the question. She never said it was or should be protected by the constitution. Maybe the quote this was drawn from is just missing context. I didn't watch this live.

If they start at the north or south pole.

I was thinking that maybe it was a trick question where it would be closer that the distance on earth since the earth curves so it would be the length of the chord between the two cars.

I think the 'I know its freedom of speech but I dont think anyone should' would be the statement of concern

that's agood technical point. I just assumed we were talking about the 'standard practice' of using the cars' odometers but - yeah, plenty of room for error there as well.

******two cars drive away from eachother for 16 miles****** it seems this phrase 'could' be interpreted that each car drives until there is 16miles between them (8 miles each if they have the same velocities) OR 16 miles each for total of 32 miles. I used the latter distance.
