Any one been to Deals Gap?
If so I could use any info, good places to stay, eat, visit etc. The last three needed only if I decide to stop driving. Looks like time for a vacation.

Where is this? North Carolina? If it is I've heard the people down there are generally nice. However if you've seen Deliverance, you know to be careful! "Squeel Like a Pig!!". Be careful! Looks like fun though.

First off, having grown up less than an hour from this, and having never personally, or had anyone I know, eve say "squeel like a pig" I am a bit offended by Fred's remarks. Doesn't he know the difference between North Carolina and South Carolina (no offence meant, just a small joke.) But more seriously, You are either going to have to go into Knoxville, or come into Asheville for much variety in you meals. There are a few places, but not many. Asheville should be on your list if for nothing more than to travel out to Dale Teagues Shop. There are some nasty roads up there as well that rival any on Deal's Gap. But since you are going to be up that way, you should go to the Joyce Kilmer Memorial forest. Seeing an area with that much virgin timber is awe inspiring. And I hate tree huggers and still feel that way about it.

Its been a few years since I've been to Deal's Gap. The road is wonderful, but from what I've heard its become extremely popular with the sport bike crowd. Even a couple years ago the place was packed on the weekends. I believe law enforcement on the weekends at the Gap has been beefed up considerably.
There are a few nice places to stay in nearby towns. There are also a few neat places to visit in the immediate area - the dam being one of them. Try a search on Deal's Gap on the net - there is a ton of info out there. If you need more, Private Message me or email me at [email protected]. I'll dig a little more if you need it. Oh, and take a camera! Oh, and we don't say squeal like a pig in South Carolina! We simply ask, "Who's your Daddy?" Squeel like a pig is from Macon Georgia! LMAO!
