18x8's on a 12 Impreza Sport
I have a '12 Impreza Sport and I am currently looking on buying a set of 18 in. Wheels ( 18x8 with 45mm offset ) I just wanted to throw this out here to see if anyone can tell me or not if they know of any problems that I may run into.. Im mostly concerned about rubbing. If anybuddy has any suggestions or answers for me feel free to let me know, please!
Thank You! |

Christ on a bike.....18s are a HORRIBLE idea. They will make your car 50% slower, throw your speedometer so out of whack that it becomes a moving/not moving indicator, and increases the stress on your transmission by 400%. You needs to rethink this issue for a LONG time.

umm... yeah. ok.
So do you have a valid reason why this is "so horrible" considering I'm on stock 17's right now. |

I will agree that 18's are a bad idea on our cars. I have a 2010 Impreza and want to downgrade to 17x9 or 17x8 not because of weight. The car needs more time to make a full rotation compared to the 16's you have on your car currently.
wheels are 18x8.5 gram lights ~22lbs per wheel. |

18x8 drastically limits tire choices. Performance wise, not an upgrade at all. |

They will be fine as long as you don't have some weird tire size.
It should be a 225/40-18 (or something very close) and you won't have problems. Depending on the wheel it might be heavier than a 16 or 17, but you won't notice it just daily driving. |

Well your going from a stock 15" to a 19" there is going to be some noticable changes I would think. BUT going from a stock 17" to an 18" wheel (which I plan on doing) is probably not going to cause a noticable difference at all in daily driving. My soul purpose of posting this was to just make sure that stepping up to a slightly bigger wheel/tire there would be no rubbing / contact issues. Thats all I am worried about.

Either way, it's a N/A Subaru, even if it was a turbo Subaru, you won't notice the difference daily driving. Quote:
Sure if you track the car, but if you're just daily driving, you won't notice it. |

Yes, like I said, as long as I do not have any rubbing ro clearance issues with an 18x8 inch wheel/tire I am fine with that. This is my daily driver, N/A 2.0L car. I am not looking for performnace really. If anything in the near future, I am considering a set of lowering springs if I still have the clearance after the 18" wheels. About a 1.4 inch drop I believe.
