Clutch fork issue
Hey guys, Im in the middle if putting my motor back together from a spun bearing and im having a little trouble with the clutch.
heres a pic for reference. kinda *****ty but its better than nothing Ok heres the problem, With all of it put back together like in the pic above, when I barely touch the clutch pedal, it drops to the floor and wont come back up unless I pull it all the way back up, then it will stay there. When I went to mount the motor to the tranny, I took the release bearing off the clutch and put it on the tranny shaft, like the manual said, then I put the cluch fork in. No problem there. I did forget to put the release fork shaft in before I mated the motor and trans, when I realized I forgot, I slid it in while the motor and tranny were together. It went all the way through, then stopped, So i twised it until I felt the notch fall into place. Now with everything hooked up like this, Im having the clutch problem. IF I manually press the shift fork either way, it stays where it is, so im thinking the problem is in the shaft position. Sorry if this is confusing, I tried making it as clear as possible. Thanks for any help in advance -Brian

wait so the release fork is in a solid position unable to be pushed forward? because if you can push it forward then that means the throw out bearing didnt click into the pressure plate. (pressure plate is what pulls the pedal back up.) you need to make sure that throw out properly clicked into the pressure plate (when you mount the tranny up and bolt it in, you are supposed to push the release fork all the way back until you feel it click the throw out in place)
sounds like you may have to pull the tranny back down. as you need to assemble the throw out bearing release fork and shaft while its off the block. |

ya you also might have air in the system...
does it disengage the clutch when its down? |

Hey the same thing happened when I rebuilt the gearbox, everytime I would push in the clutch it would stick to the floor, I had to bleed the clutch about 5 times and that fixed the problem if you had the clutch hose off then you probably have air in the system! Hope this helps!

well a couple points that i didnt think of. I didnt feel the throw out bearing click back into the clutch, so thats probably my main issue. Also I am most likely going to have to bleed the system since i took the boot off.
I did put the release fork into the TOB when the motor was out, like I said, I just forgot to put the shaft in. Which I slid in and felt it fall into the notch after I mated the motor and tranny. Im going to see if I can get the TOB to click into the pressure plate, since I can, with a little effort, move the fork back and forth and it stays where it is. (meaning the pressure plate isnt pushing it back. Thanks for the help so far, I let you know how it comes. |

thank you evosoul, you were right. I had to remove the operating cylinder in order to push the fork back far enough to get the throw out bearing to click in place on the pressure plate. Once It did, I couldnt move the fork by hand. Bolted the cylinder back up and its mint.
Thanks again for everyones help |
