Default Anyone free this weekend (Spfld MA)

I need someone who knows a bit about exaust. Possibly meet up with me at some point in the near future. Just put on the full brullen setup and i think i have a leak. I know there is a reported ticking sound but only at higher rpm's, this is happening as soon as the engine bogs a little no matter what the rpm. Also im running rich i think? When i let off the gas and decel it sounds like a rattle at higher rpm's and as soon as i hit the gas its usually pops but not a backfire sound. This is what i think anyways so who knows cause im no expert. any help or advice would be great. I will try to post a sound clip today as well...

Would an AFC cure the "rich" problem if it does in fact exist

yes, AFC would fix that problem. But I would get an Air/fuel gauge and/or an EGT to make sure it is rich.

that burble sound when decelerating is normal, I have a cat-back system, and I get it, too...I love it as for the occasional "pop", I get that, too

to check for leaks is easy...look under the car as it's running (preferably when engine is cold, as exhaust is easier to see), and you will see if anything is coming out... (of course, there are better ways of checking for leaks, but that's how I do it )

Also,
Have someone plug the tailpipe with their shoe bottom or something like that while you look under the car for gas escaping. Don't plug it too long though.

How long have you run this exhaust? Did you do an ECU reset? By "full" setup do you mean catback or from the header including a new cat? Another way to check for leaks when you start up is to get under the car and squirt some diluted dish detergent on the joints. I would do this before the exhaust piping gets hot enough to vaporize the liquid straight away. If you're blowing bubbles, you got a leak.

What makes you think you're running rich? Are you getting more of a fuel smell in the exhaust? Are you sooting up the tail pipe? The burble-pop is an added perk that comes with NA motors.

Good luck diagnosing. But I am not even sure you have a problem. In fact, it might even be that your new pipes are just clicking against a heat shield or some other underbody member. This is particularly likely if the piping is of uprated diameter or does not fit *perfectly*. In fact, it might even be possible that the setup is jostling around on the exhaust hangers when the motor torques a bit as when you quickly get on or off the go pedal.

I'll most likely be around this weekend, if you want to get together. I don't know what your schedule is like, but we could try and meet up on Sat. Let me know.

Hey Seth, I'm going to try and come by kart trak around noon Sat. I'm not sure I will definitely be there as I haven't talked to Kevin about when we are going to meet up. Maybe he will want to do some karting.

Kyles70- Where do u live in western mass? I'm in Southwick and Kevins in Chicopee. I'm sure we will meet at either his place or mine. We can let you know what we are going to do.

<------- In Chicopee, have been under my car more times than I'd like to admit tinkering with my exhaust (scoobysport turbo back).

Just in case you guys needed a hand..

Oh, and if yer catless you're probably running rich.

On a cold day, start your car and look for leaks (your exhaust will be white)..I would not recommend plugging the tailpipe!

Found a leak in my friend's '79 corvette this way...it looked like he had side pipes, but nope, just a big leak.

To get to kart trak, just take 91 south to exit 42. I believe the exit is for 159 Windsor Locks. When you get off the ramp, take a right. The trak is about 1/2 mile or so down the road on the left side.
