Impreza WRX STi SPT exhaust for 09 STI

I was initially not going to go with the SPT because the sound clips on youtube were too quiet for me coming from a Cobb exhaust on my previous bugeye. However, I heard this exhaust in person and it is very similar in sound to my old Cobb set up except that it does not drone on the highway like everyone warned be about with the hatchback.

It is quiet enough when you don't need it to attract a lot of attention, but sounds great when you get on it. Nice boxer rumble.

It includes the gasket and hardware for between the muffler and midpipe, but you re-use the donut gasket and hardware to bolt up to the downpipe.

Overall fit and finish is top notch and it looks nice without being overdone. I would recommend this exhaust to anyone. No complaints.

Any difference in performance, or just sound?

It is quite free flowing so with the cobb tune it adds nicely to the performance.

I've heard the same thing in person. But to me it just sounds to quiet. Glad you like it though.

It is a bit quieter when the revs are way down, but at start up or under load it really opens up and sounds very similar to my old Cobb exhaust. Any louder on the hatch and you really have to worry about droning. I get that at start up and it is enough to make your ears pop from the pressure. Similar to having a large sub cranked way up at a very low frequency. Makes your head ache.

I just swapped out my magnaflow for the SPT exhaust and concur. Its got a really nice throatyness under load and its amazingly quiet on the freeway. It really opens up nicely when i'm on the throttle and as soon as you backoff is quiets right down. I do miss the angryness of my Magnaflow from time to time but theres no way i'd switch back. I can now use my hands-free again and my new stereo system sounds like a nice system. its amazing!
If you are still running the stock Dunlopps (unholy droning POS's) you wont really be able to appreciate how quiet it is on the freeway but with my continentals DWs (no drone even with 38k miles) you def appreciate it. Its a great for a daily commuter or someone that likes to take their car on road trips. Plus its a factory upgrade so the PoPo wont be able to give you a ticket.
