I think this clouded your judgement. I passed on a very nice 02 WRX not long ago listed for $5500 as a first car for my son. It later sold for $4500. These cars are not Ferraris, guys.

I test drove both a Jetta TDi and a Passat TDi. I was looking to replace my LGT. In the end, I sold the LGT and bought nothing (I have several other vehicles). A friend has a Jetta TDi and gets an average of 47mpg combined driving. I like the fact that you can mix used motor oil with the fuel and burn it (yes, I researched that quite a bit.....and do it in my diesel tractor)

Great mileage is one thing. Good mileage and great reliability is another. That is why I drive a civic (sometimes). Don't worry guys, its all stock.

What do you mean almost? You should have taken the money and ran.

Gah, I need to go car hunting somewhere aside from the PNW. $7500 gets you a clapped out bugeye with steelies and 180k miles around here.

I have a small car lot in San Antonio, I sold our last bugeye for 5650 out the door with 137 on the clock... Add a plane ticket and a road trip and you have a fun story instead of bending over at a local dealership.

well here in pa i spent a looooong time finding one with no work done to it in good shape and wound up paying 7500 out the door for this one then had to replace the clutch timing belt valve cover gasket etc... self labor but still the parts I was hoping to break even as I havn't owned it very long and yes I was think MPG's but I think I'm at piece with it for now. I change my cars rather frequently it's this problem I have, but beings this was a dream car since it came out 10 years ago it kind of holds a special place in my heart...lol and i test drove a tdi and well I'm just not ready to give up the fun factor Oh well maybe i'll just have to do a mod to make me feel better!
