Getting a po244 whenever giving the car some power in 4th gear. Must be overboosting. Running Cobb stage 2 with just a turboback. Did the waste a adjustment on my td04 two turns tighter. Car runs like ****, boost bouncing al over the place. It was so bad I thought maybe the clutch was slipping but I don't think that's the case. I checked all the vac lines and they're all secure. What else should I look into? Restricter pill? Boost solenoid? Halp!

Before. I know that tightening it 3-4 turns helps with wastegate flutter, which i was having. I also know that turning it causes some overboost. No problems before. Then I tighten 4 turns. problems. Now its loosened 2 turns, so its back to being 2 turns tighter than stock. Think i should return to 0 turns and see if problem persists? I find it odd that a highly recommended mod on my WG actuator arm could cause such issues, but its definitely possible I suppose. I just didnt think I could really overboost with only 2 turns on the arm. |

^ fair enough. Ill turn it back. I dont care for power (stock 5 speed) but I just wanted it to stop doing the WG flutter.

if you don't care for power, go to cobb stage 0 and enjoy your flutter free driving.

You will give yourself way too many problems if you start troubleshooting by assuming your car has a problem and the Internet lemmings wrote the bible on what works. If they are using standard Cobb reflashes, they can't help you. |

I think you guys are reading into this a bit too much. All I did was shorten the WG arm, now im returning to normal, and hoping it stops overboosting
the car did have a tune on it when i bought it (by dan, circa 2007) that allowed it to run a turboback but it ran stock boost pressure. I got the Cobb AP so I could have an easy to use datalogger and code-reader and might as well toss the stg 2 map on there. its far from perfect (too rich, needs avcs tuning) but its good enough to roll with for now. |

You're probably right.
The real problem is the TD04 on a 2.5L. Of course 4th and 5th gear are going to cause problems. A lot of tension on the WG arm is a band-aid. And not a good one. I think the stock spring is 6-8 lbs if that. If you start cranking down on the spring your control resolution disappears especially with the stock BCS. How many miles on it? A new actuator might help. They do wear out. Take a good tune off for a crap one. Not sure why you'd expect good results. Last edited by isis; 03-02-2013 at 05:35 PM. |

Took it for a drive, and the car hesitates like hell under part throttle and watching the AP boost gauge, under steady throttle in third it just bounces from 14 psi to 8 and back up and back down - lurching and hesitating. At first it felt like when a clutch is slipping, you know, grabbing and not grabbing - but it isnt the clutch. So im thinking the WG adjustment didnt do anything. It seems to me the boost control is completely borked. BCS maybe? restricter pill? |

I have an oem ebcs you could see if it fixes the issue, also spare waste gate.
Can't get it fixed (assuming you mean tune) if a part is broken |

Here is one I did last week as soon as I got the AP. third gear pull. Stupid AP doesnt log Boost target with initial settings, so I will do another log tonight with a Boost Target.

Went out and did some more logs. Have a few third gear pulls with different parameters. Will post shortly.

I'm sure somebody knows more than me but I'd like to see what it looks like with the original map. It worked fine till you cobb'd it. I wouldn't dismiss that. What's the BCS solenoid look like?
