Default Summer in the wet vs All seasons in the wet

Ok... so it's well known that all seasons give up something in order to be all season and a summer tire will pretty much always be better than an all season (assuming same state of technology).

What about the same two tires in the wet?

Is the compound less important than the evacuation ability?

What about when the ground is damp, but no puddles? (it would seem compound is important, which brings me back to the summer vc all seasons in the wet...)

Evacuation ability is only really going to be important when there is more water on the road. If the road is just damp, you won't be evacuating anything anyways.

In deeper water, I would go all season, hands down (except a few summer tires that look like they could move some water out of the way). Most summer tires just don't have the tread to move water away from the tire's path.

From personal experience, I can tell you that I have had all seasons that have been better on wet roads than my Falcon Azenis. Those are the only summer tires that I have much time on, but they are downright scary in the wet.

....d00000000000000d......

there are summer tires that don't even know it IS wet........and there are summer tires that don't like standing water, much---just 'wet' usually isn't an issue.

ALSO.....some 'summer' tires do NOT work well in cooler(cold) temperatures, where AS tires are usually not as temperature sensitive

the 'wrong' 'summer' tires on a cold, damp morning can be

There is a GREAT DEAL to picking the right tire for performance AND local conditions....and there is NO 'one tire fits all' performance and/or conditions.

s000000000oooooooooooooo............

Be as specific about useage and likely conditions that you think you will encounter and we can usually figure out the right tires for ya.

If ya gonna use the tires below ~50°F a good bit of the time, regardless of other considerations, an UHP AS tire is what ya want
