Default For those with Cobb or Ganzflow CAI..

Today I plugged the fender hole in front of the intake and seemed to have a reduction in power? I was thinking that just having cold air would be helpful but it seems to strangle the intake. I have removed the little orange thing underneath the passenger side turn signal and left it open. Has anyone got any numbers behind this?

I made note in my GanzFlow instructions that you need the air to flow from inside the fender into the engine bay to pull more cool air into the fender from outside, and when you plug the holes in the fender going into the engine bay you can reduce flow of fresh air into the fender from the outside.

Did you just plug up the big hole or all the little holes along with the big one? I also run a Ganzflow with the big hole plugged with racers tape, because I read that if the big hole is left open it will allow warm engine bay air to enter the fender. Of course, it'd be minimized if you took off your two air vent scoop plates and hood scoop plate.

You should be able to plug just the big hole, just not all the little holes that assist airflow.

I've got the stock plastic plug in the front hole with my Cobb and it seems to run just fine, no stangulation at all.

I have a previous gen GanzFlow, that uses the rear hole, and just left the stock plug in the font hole. Doesn't seem to cause any strangualtion, either, but I've never tried it with the plug removed. Kinda curious now, might do that and see if I notice a diference.

Okay, this is kinda strange...

I have a 99, so I never had that plug to begin with. I put the intake on in August, then someone had an extra plug, so they gave it to me (in October). I put I on and felt like I lost power, but thought it must be due to faulty butt dyno...

I guess I should take it off after all this time and see if I am speedier...

So has anyone tried it with the hole uncovered? Or what about taking out the passager side turn signal? I think larry Ganz had that for his RS-T with a dryer vent IIRC

I have ran obd-2 tests with the fender open and closed and with the bumper vent in and out and the intake still pulls in the same amount of air and the temps were +- 3 degrees.

I installed a cobb intake 2 weeks ago. I have a MY00, so my front fender hole was plugged. It seemed to really loose power or flatten out @ 5k with the hole plugged.

I unplugged the hole and it seemed to be a better, but I didn't do a full ECU reset to really make it think about it.

The flatness could be timing getting turned back because the cobb is soooooooo loud though.
