IMO:
A nice midpipe upgrade with a resonator is a great plan. Obviously the STi axle back isn't just going to bolt up, so you'll need to have some work done. Take the opportunity to get a big resonator and a midpipe welded up at the same time, it'll save you some labor cost. Catalytic converter isn't an absolute must, but if you want to go exhaust crazy, a magnaflow universal (with the metal substrate honeycomb insides) would be a great choice. I have the STi catback (modified to fit as the impreza is a shorter car) and a Stromung cat on my car, I love it. |

depends on the cash you want to spend. As said above a midpipe would be a nice upgrade and would allow you to run whatever wrx axleback you want that can mate to stock flange size. You can use the stock one but you need to either cut and rotate the end flange or do the same to the sti axleback its up to you. New cat, this has nothing to do with your cats. Resonator is nice, up to you if you want to put it in the new midpipe or not. 2.25" all the way

Any more advice? Make sure the tip peeks out past the bumper, it'll reduce resonating in the cabin and bumper melt. However, you have a sedan, so you probably won't have to mess with the tip.
