50, wow, this is my longest post, seems like I sturred the hive, lots of people out there unhappy with JC Sports. It's not fair to gang up on them lke this, but they should at least address this topic, saying nothing makes it even worse.

I just ordered the chip a couple day ago, I'm expecting it anyday now and when I install it I'll let you all know if it was worth the money. I spoke to JCSPORTS on the phone and told them some of the negative things I heard about the TC2 and they assured me not to worry an that I would be satisfied. For those that asked of it works with automatics, JC told me NO, that the CE light will come on, on auto's.

Alright, I went out and bought a voltmeter just now. So I should be able to probe the intake temp signal and the MAP signal to see what kind of differences I get on my TC2.
Optimally it'd be nice to have a multichannel device with logging capability so some graphs could be produced and some analysis could be done. But this should at least be a start. If I get a chance to do some test runs tonight, I'll post my results. |

Figures, they don't even try to support their own name, let alone their products...lets see if Rimmer can resurect his name from the ashes.....JCS obviously cant.

Well, it's quite hard to access a 4wd dyno up here... I'll be posting some G-tech results for the TC2 later this week.

Thanks GTBGUY, if you could post a stock RS G-Tech run and your car with only the TCII, that would be great! Thanks again

GTBGUY, I think its best to let them know you are a reseller of JC Sports products. That way, they can keep that in mind when analyzing your results.

The JC Sports torque chip's designer is very good with electronics, is reclusive and does not frequent this board, and does not wish to give up proprietary information that could lead to other's copying his design. I agreed to edit this message to protect the design as well.
It is not JCS that is being deceptive or secretive - rather the designer chooses to limit what information that he dispenses to JCS and others, and then let the results (and customers) speak for themselves. This is reasonable to protect his interests. Anyways, some descriptions here are accurate, except that it intercepts the engine coolant temp signal, not the air temp signal. But either way, fooling the ECU into thinking the motor is cooler will make it richer. This is not all it does... My experience with the TCII is this. Before I got it, I was running the plain JCS Boost Chip (map voltage clamp only) with an S-AFC when I first did my turbo kit. I had the S-AFC set for as much as 18%-25% enrichment from 3K - 5K rpm, and couldn't enrich above that because of the MAP voltage clamp. I had to rely on the RRFPR to enrichen the top end. So, I changed to the TCII. My first test drive at 5 psi with the TCII, after pulling out the S-AFC was dramatic. No changes in any thing else (and RRFPR settings were left alone), and it pulled harder right out of the box without training the ECU. There was no mistaking the improvement, and while butt dyno's can lie, this was not a false sense of acceleration from something like more noise, etc... Over time it only got better. I still needed the RRFPR for extra fuel under boost, don't get me wrong; but it definitely does something to be able to enrichen as much as the S-AFC did before the TCII. Dyno time is expensive, and I don't see JCS doing any pulls in the immediate future while they are re-structuring with a new business model right now. A few people have posted positive results (burninrubber's NA car is much better with torque chip for example), and right now we all just have to decide whether to believe what TCII owners have to say, since you won't believe JC Sports. I have always had a good reputation for being trustworthy, and I say this was a worthwhile mod for me, and would be a good mod even for an NA car. I wish I had dyno'd my car before and after, to help out here. But at $100 for three pulls on the 4WD dyno, or $175 an hour, I didn't want to. Hope this helps... We'll see if it's a hoax, my car is at my mechanics right now and the Jc's torque chip is getting put in right now as I type this reply. I'll let you all know if it's a hoax or not after I drive it for a couple days since it supposedly takes sometime to program itself. But you are supposed to feel some difference immedialty according to JC Sports. Let's see what happens.

Scoober, those results are pretty good, and they will probably get better with time. What other $250 mod will shave .3 seconds off your 0-60 time and .7 seconds off of your 1/4 mile?!?!? I am definitely going to get one, as long as they let me return it if I am unsatisfied. I want to wait till I get my MRT exhaust system though

How can you consider those results accurate? They were taking 30 days apart.
A lot of other things other than air temperature will affect the results. Could have been different winds, air humidity, launching in a different manner, etc. |
