With what parts? Was this at sea level? On pump 91 gas? Is the 2.0L completely stock? I'm not trying to do internals, or use anything else besides the parts I have already on her... She's a safe stage 2 and I'm not looking to go outside of that; I just want boost/spool faster. I'm NEVER going to trap a 1/4 mile, I only get on her when I'm already rolling, and mostly 3rd-4th pulls. I do not want a top end awhp car, I just want a fun DD. Cheers, ~Wolf WTi

U mostly do 3rd and 4th gear pulls but u don't want to make more high rpm hp......that makes absolutely no sense.

So I'm about to send my turbo in to blouch, pretty stoked to get this thing set up.
I'm curious though, what kind of fuel mileage are you guys seeing versus stock? |

mpg has 99% to do with your right foot and 1% to do with your turbo.
i can get 28-30 mpg with my dom4xtr on the freeway. or i can get 10mpg driving like a jackass everyday. the more you press the gas pedal.....the more gas you use. |

Wear lighter shoes for better gas mileage.

Generally I drive pretty lightly. I was just curious if there was a significant decrease in mileage, so I guess there isn't, good to know.

A 19T spools faster. Turbo working at lower rpms equals positive manifold pressure at lower rpms equals more fueling at lower rpms equals more fuel consumption equals MPG loss.
And that's totally based on how far down you press the pedal so...YMMV |

^^ yeah. You should normally get better gas mileage with bigger turbos since they take longer to spool.
And if mpg is one of your goals....then use an ebcs to delay boost in low throttle applications and during freeway cruising. |

Or you could swap in a JDM ecu and tune boost by gear.
But what Ron said might be easier. |

Also, I have an EBCS that will be installed. Ron, do you think I'd have any trouble staying out of boost on the highway? At cruising speed my RPMs are right around 3300-3500 RPM (4.11 final drive). Could explain a little more in depth how boost would be delayed with the EBCS? It's based on throttle position if I'm understanding correctly, so when you get on it the turbo would still spool up pretty quick right? Thanks for the advice and input guys. |

Over the course of three days I read this entire frigging thread. My head hurts and Im annoyed that PT isnt doing that no more but it was too good to be true.
My 02 with 153,000 needs a new turbo because the seals are bad...I'm getting less than 15mpg which is the main reason I need to get a replacement ASAP and I was hoping the 19T was going to be the route I should go on this mileage engine. Now I need to look back into VF39/43, and 16Gs...or I may go with a stock turbo, or maybe one of these blouch 19Ts...UGH this is a PITA haha |

You can also tune down with the bigger turbos and still get a power band that doesn't fall off above the 6000rpm range if you are worried about the engine. I don't think any of those listed are going to overstress the engine significantly. UTEC + remote map switch is what I have so I can have a fun tune but keep things conservative for everday driving. |

if you want to make a mpg friendlier map, but still make power when you need/want it.....simply make the initial and max wgdc 0% up to 50% throttle....then from 50-100% throttle tune normally. you can also lean the car out in those regions if you like. i made maps like this for a while, but its pretty pointless as 1-2 WOT pulls kills your mpg and the granny mapping anyway so isnt really worth it imo. the same basic results can be had by simply controlling your right foot. |

[quote=AllAWD;31363249]You shouldn't feel too bad. PT didn't do anything magical...
262.5 awhp, running a PT w/ tmic and 91 pump gas, IMO is WICKED good! 270 awhp, Knutz with a 19T/clipped-TD04L, running an EWG and E85 fuel! Cheers, ~Wolf WTi Last edited by ForesterWTi; 07-20-2010 at 10:03 PM. |

IT LIVES!!!!
After more months than I care to add up my 19T has finally been rebuilt. I can't really complain since I told them I wasn't in a hurry and they took their time. Apparently they did some more porting and polishing on the housings and replaced all the bearings/seals on the donor cartridge. They also sent it off to a few other companies to get second and third opinions on the assembly. I expect this one to last a bit longer . Assuming time permits, I'm picking it up on Friday and installing on Saturday. Give it a week to break in and I'll start to tune and have fun. I'll do my best to find a free night this week and log some WOT pulls with my current stage 2 setup for comparison. Last edited by Scooby921; 08-02-2010 at 07:15 PM. |

Full exhaust, Intake and inlet pipe, elbow and Y-pipe, stock STi TMIC. Engine completely stock, he's never had to replace so much as an alternator. I think that run was on race gas, but it was his street map just scaled in about 30 seconds. He was doing a tenth or two higher with 93 octane (what we call premium in all the cool states ) I believe. Location was Byron dragway in IL.

There was talk of the disco potato awhile back and I found some more information on it. ATP
has two GT28 variants, GT28RS http://www.atpturbo.com/mm5/merchant...egory_Code=SUB and the GT2871R http://www.atpturbo.com/mm5/merchant...egory_Code=SUB Garrett actually made a prototype bolt on back in the day, http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...51&postcount=1 http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...&postcount=105 I would really like to experience the transient response of this turbo as it is highly touted. But I can buy 2 16g's for the same price. |

I considered a disco potato as BB would be awesome but I got a spanking new EvoIII 16GXT from Blouch for a great price.
AFAIK/IIRC the GT28RS is quite a bit bigger than you'd be looking for as far as transient response goes. I was under the impression the Blouch disco potato was a GT2860RS....but I could be wrong. |
