Default 2004 STi results with mods

EDIT: I just realized the mods changed the thread title for some unknown reason. I wish it would be changed back. It said with MOD, not mods as I do not have multiple modifications.

If you want to hear the whole story about tonight read on... if you want to see the end result scroll down to the numbers.

Well its been a while but I finaly made it up to the track tonight.
I didnt end up leaving until late and arrived at the track at 7:30 or so (Track runs from 6-10pm with break at 8pm) So i get in the lanes and we sit around waiting. They made about 10 runs before the 8pm break. I figure at this point I will be lucky to get 3 runs all night. Sooo were waiting and waiting... things start running after the break at 8:40... They run a few lanes out and of course someone blows up and oils down the track spyhunter style. So now I'm thinking that I'd be lucky to get 2 runs...

They get that cleaned up by 9:30 and at that point I know im boned... I'll only get one pass. I havent run my STi since it was basicly brand new back in 2004. I was worried that I would bodge my one pass and completely waste the $19 I paid to get in.

I end up lining up next to my buddy (per my request ) in his blue 2003 EVO with minimal mods (boost controller, intake, exhaust).

I pull up to the line first, light both yellow lights, bring the car to 4500rpm steady and sat there waiting...

Down come the lights and I'm off almost instantly... in fact far too quickly as I red light pretty badly (.314)
I was having serious problem launching the STi when i ran it before (no traction) but let me tell you... This time the gods were shining down on me and I hit it just right. I did the old drag method I used in my WRX and oh boy... The car rocketed out of the hole and I was off like never before. By the time I hit second I had a few cars on the EVO and there was no looking back from there. By the time I hit 5th gear I was what seemed to be a solid 10 cars ahead and before I know it its all over... I hit my shifts well (not perfect) but it seemed like a great run to me. We went to the booth and got our slips and I almost died.

I passed through the traps .909 seconds before the EVO but only beat him by .4x seconds in the 1/4m.

The numbers...

R/T ____ .314
60' ____ 1.772
330' ___ 5.565
1/8th ___ 8.353
MPH __ 82.70
1000' __ 10.930
1/4mile _ 13.121
MPH __103.52

The ONLY mod on the car is the dirty old K&N from my 2002 WRX. Mind you I took it out and looked at it and it looks horribly dirty...
1/2 tank of pump gas, above stock weight, 63 degrees outside.

Needless to say I am psyched. I cannot believe I got so lucky on my one and only pass and I never expected to run that quick. It turned out to be the best 1 run night I think I ever had

Sooo.... all that said here is the contest! How many thousand times do you think I will post my [email protected] now?

I'll start out the guessing with a bajillion!

~v6

The runs from my 2nd night back to the track ( 4th night ever running the car )
Car # 334

Thanks guys.

Yes this was on stock tires. I have no idea what the pressures are at. Should be stock tho. The fronts have about 30-40% life left I'd guestimate.

If I had a digi cam id post the slip.

Nice run! Looks very similar to my first "good" runs in my old 04 STi (with K&N)... also did two 13.1's @ 103mph (with a 1.7-something 60'). That was on Pirelli p-zero nero's and it was sometime in June or July I think. Congrats! Wish I still had my car

Thats a fantastic time for stock. I don't think I've seen an 8.3 through the 1/8th in a stock STI yet. Nice job!

He drives a Suby not an EVO, so no boosty controlly. EVOs do not apply to the laws of physics.

No slip, no soup for you. Besides, your car was 'modified' with a dirty air filter. Pieces of lint and such mixed with air can aid in combustion, which is like a nitrous oxide boost in power. That's cheating!

J/K - Nice run!

you guys crack me up!

Im thinking... where the hell can I go scan & send the slip from?

Amakaze = right?

I wonder if some people really think I am lying?

btw I almost ended up throwing the air filter in the woods after fussing with the frigging airbox cover for 5 minutes trying to get it back on with the help of the EVO guy and another guy giving me light via cellphone screen. The stupid K&N is a tiny tiny bit oversized and it makes it VERY hard to get the cover back on right. I might actually just get a new stock filter and lose the K&N for the sake of being BONE STOCK!

if only everyones tracks were at a 90 foot elevation

And with some practice you should be able to get a 12.8-12.9 with that mph

Were you power shifting through the gears or did you let off during each shift? Thats a nice trap for being stock!
