Twinscroll hybrid VF36/GT2871 tuned by EFI Logics
Got my car tuned at EFI Logics. Great shop and Chris is a great guy and very knowledgeable tuner! Highly recommended.
Car: 05 LGT 6MT (08 STI tranny, 4th gear pulls on the graph). Mods: VF36 twinscroll ball-bearing turbo w/GT2871 compressor wheel (same wheel as in AVO380) w/15 lbs. AVO wastegate actuator, JDM STI twinscroll EL headers/uppipe, AVO catted downpipe, Perrin Y-mid with extra straight-thru Mangaflow muffler welded in, STI quad-tip cans, AVO CAI, Perrin inlet, 08 STI intake manifold/TMIC, TGV deletes, DW 740cc injectors, AVO fuel pump, Prodrive BCS. The numbers are not too impressive, although this is not an optimistic dyno (stock STI puts 240 whp on it) - 292 whp peak (note the graph is corrected, it put 310 whp uncorrected, but it was pretty cold day, probably less than 40F in the dyno bay), but the power band is really nice. The car responds incredibly quickly and is a hoot to drive. Chris said something is holding the turbo back, likely restrictive exhaust (I wanted to swap the quad-tips for stright-thru Prodrives, but didn't have time to do it). Dotted lines are the baseline (road tune by my friend), solid lines are the final tune. The results are now also in their dyno database. Comparison with 2008 SpecB stock (comparision should be made with SpecB because of the 6MT tranny): And versus EFI's shop stage II SpecB:

Congrats on the power, Im sure it pulls like a mother..
But I have to ask, why not save a million dollars and just go with a vf22? You could get a used one for 400 bux, its ball bearing, and you can make more power out of it with relative spool. |

I just felt adventurous and experimenting... yeah, it absolutely wasn't cost effective, but oh, well. I think the setup has more in it. Will try to optimize it and also I'll add alky injection in spring and get it retuned.

i dont think cost effective and twin scroll will be used in the same sentence for subies for a long time.....especially stock location twinscroll.
I mean all our fancy stock location turbos (ATP and Blouch) are already pushing $2000. Now add a TS manifold to that (Tomei $600, FR $1500). And you might as well go rotated and get an intake and downpipe with your kit. I'd venture to guess a rotated SS gt35 would even spool equal to a stock location TS version. |

The TS header/up/turbo cost me about ~$1500 (nice score, since VF36 go for that much alone). Plus $300 to modify the turbo. So it wasn't all that bad compared to a comparable single scroll setup and e.g. Perrin EL header. The quality of OEM EL header is above anything else, even above Full Race IMO, since the material used is almost as thick, but then they add the insulation and heatshields. |

Thanks for stopping in! The car definitely had a unique setup and it was nice to see such a modded LGT wagon roll in!

Thanks. These are slightly out of date pics, but while internal changes have been huge, externally only cans have changed:
