I love the v8 super car series. Purest are going to frown on this & i get why. I wonder if Ford & Holden will change platforms now that Nissan is allowed to enter with a model the public cannot buy? I doubt they will since this is also marketing and branding for them but, with the falcon ending production in AUS i could see it happening. If they do, it will loose a little bit of appeal to me & just become another race series.

Pontiac did something similar with the awkward 5.3L 303hp FWD setup in the Pontiac Grand Prix GTP. Even more awkward was the reverse staggered wheel setup (18x8 front, 18x7 rear).

Not sure if serious, but nope. V8 supercars is going from cars derived from the actual street model, to tube frame sheet metal spec chassis with the specific manufacturer 5.0 V8 in it.
In other words, the racing cars which had quite a bit to do with the actual car originally will now have absolutely nothing to do with the stickers of the cars name adorned on the sheet metal. |

Yes the lights work, and yes the sheet metal applied to the tubular frame still looks like the production cars somewhat. But there is absolutely NOTHING form an altima on that car with the exception of the lights.
But I have stated my dislike of this crap, no need for me to pollute this thread any more. (see how I am growing as a person) |

That looks sweet. This is the first time Nissan is back in V8 series since 90s I believe. Is this the same series where the R32 GTR dominated and ultimately banned?

I wonder how many people will buy the new Altima thinking it's a really fast car now -_-. I personally don't like the new styling. My sister has the generation before this one, it's a 2010. I think that one looks better.

I think the 05-06 models look much better than the current ones too.

Actually had the SE-R myself. Even being a FWD car, it was a great daily driver, and the dedicated 6 speed was great. Having ~280 HP wasn't too shabby either |

This is sad though, because it is yet another series going from Showroom Stock, or even Showroom Modified to yet another tube chassis series.

Nascar does race occasionally on road courses, and are set up for wet running on such tracks (wet oval racing would be suicide).
The developments in Aussie V8 and DTM make me very sad. What's the point of having different brands, if there is little to no difference in the cars? |

I don't care about funny car racing unless it's formula 1. If they want to make up cars go ahead.
