Wastegate Actuator Arm Popping out. Anyone ever had this problem?
Happy Easter Everyone. As you can see from the title of my post, The Wastegate Actuator arm of my VF 29 turbo would pop out of it's holder after one or two Shifts. What I noticed when I opened the hood was a small wear point on the swinging arm. So I'm guessing when it would come back to its resting position, the small lack of tension would release the arm. When the arm is not in place, the engine gets no Boost whatsoever, and I was running terribly rich.
So to remedy the situation, I stripped all the insulation off of 18 gauge copper wire, wrapped and twisted it around both the arm and holder. Since that time, I have had no other problems with the actuator and I achieve full boost as I was before this started happening. Weird, huh? Blue
