hey, a couple of us are riding duthie tomorrow night around 7:30. Start out in the daylight, and probably ride into the dark. Should be pretty sweet!

How's the snow level? We are heading to Bend soon and I was curious about the upper trails.

We went from Wanoga the other day and Funner was completely clear but Tiddly Winks was not. Anything below that level is open and even dusty already.

Here is a link to COTA's trail conditions - http://cotamtb.com/trails/documents/

Default Whistler

I went this time last year, it was fun, we rode the heck out of crank it up, and B line, as well as some of the construct trails like Devil's own, but we only had lower lift access.

They had not opened any of the upper trails. This season I am waiting.

We are doing Pill-chuck today, we will see if the weather holds.

Oh6, let me know if I'm crazy but aline seemed bigger. Maybe its cause it was first whistler day of my season or cause I was on a faster bike, but some things seemed bigger

I'll be at the Summit Ridge one. Duthie is going to be crazy busy and parking is limited.

Have a Nice Day? Nope

As much as I would love to demo a RockyMountain Slayer 70 ( my next bike ) I am going to pass on this festival. It should be fun though.

I am riding Pilchuck up north tomorrow so I can stop by MPS and drop off an AOS to go in my car before they fire up the new engine.

We've been enjoying the moisture over here on the dry side. Took advantage to the rain and buffed some corners on the local trails this week.

I've also been going up to Ratpac, spent most of the day Thursday on the lower flow/jump section. The local kids have really made it nice.

Also...
Oh man, I've been waiting years for this. Just had to wait until things in life were right. Adopted a dog today. He hasn't been around bikes but he sure will. Nothing like a good riding buddy.

He will be going up with this tomorrow for some riding/trail building. A few of my riding buddies have dogs that join us, I'm stoked to have "Rhett" join the pack.

Festival was pretty fun. plenty of bikes to be demo'd. Which was kind of unfortunate because I'm not really interested in buying a new bike. I really like how my Enduro is setup. I'm currently keeping my eyes peeled out for a lighter weight wheelset though. That seems to be the only thing I really want for my bike.

I did try out a Transition double though. Rode it on the dual slalom track. It was pretty badass and ripped through that track pretty damn good.

Enduro's are great bikes.

Pillchuck was muddy as heck, but still loads of fun. Very sketchy at speed in the mud. It was good practice (and I need lots of that), on keeping my focus on where I want to end up, not on the tree that has a tractor beam on my front tire.

This is true. The right side kicker/table after the A-Line Rock drop was pretty big this year. Last year it was big, and you had to crank, but this year a I cranked hard into it, and barely made it.....Only after flowing the drop differently did i get it down smooth.

I rode lots of Upper A-line--->Fade to Black---->lower A-line. Great line! Trails were limited this early, but oh so buff! NO brake bumps at all!

That kicker is too lippy for me, don't have my preload/pump/flow down on those yet. That's probably my least favorite area of all of Aline anyway..gets real sketch if you don't clear it.

Last week we buffed some turns and I walked the new pup around trail so he could get familiar with being outside on a single track.
This morning we rode Holy Moses and Upper Harvest. Trails were fun and Rhett did just fine. He owned the climb and was courteous on the descent (moved out of the way). We only rode a few miles since he is out of shape.
Good times indeed.

Wednesday night a group of us are riding Duthie from 7:30ish to 9:30pm or so. We will mostly be doing stuff like Voodoo Child, HLC, 2Hi, Ryan's Line, Gravy Train and maybe an XC trail or two. Basically just mess around and have fun. We have riders of all levels, so anyone is welcome to join us!

Hows the lighting towards the end of the day? Headlamp on helmet/bike?

We rode until after 9pm without lights last week. We have been riding Wednesdays for over a year now and we all have lights but havent used them much in the last few weeks.

It's also much lighter than the similar Yakima and Thule set ups. If I can't secure it down I'll may go back to my Yakima rack.
You could go to home depot and buy a pack of wooden shims and pound them in any gaps that have play. Would be a good non-permanent solution for not much coin.

Truth. I also have some some friends that weld.
I think I'm just going to hang on to it and lend it out to friends as needed.
I'm also hoping to buy a Westfalia this fall or in the spring and I would use it on that.

Anyone in the Bellingham area want to bike Galbraith on Friday? I'm from down South but will be heading up there for a wedding on Friday and am free till about 6 PM to explore Galbraith. I've never been so it would be nice to go with someone who knows the trails. Thanks.
