You guys are forgeting about torque. The S2000 has none. It makes all its power out of sheer RPM. Torque in the mid 100's WRX torque 217.

Stock WRX 227hp
Stock S2000 240hp

Stock WRX ~3100lbs
Stock S2000 ~2800lbs

Stock WRX Bridgestone RE92
Stock S2000 Bridgestone S02

Why be surprised if a S2000 beat a WRX?

Anyone else been to the track stock?
This past Wednesday I ran a 14.5 @ 92.7mph with a 1.9 60' time in my bone stock, 5-speed, sedan in 70-75 degree weather.

There is no doubt in my mind that with cooler weather and more seat time I could get a low 14 out of it bone stock.

I got a 16.1 in a automatic wagon.

no launching, no brake torques... just seeing what the average go will do when they mash the gas at a light.

By comparison.. Once properly launching the automatic I was running with a friends firebird (1989) that is pulling 14.5's.

I out launched and beat him

so that is effectively 14.4's, with my wife in the car as well.

Point is the Driver and knowing where your car makes the power..

Stock WRX best way to get a fast time is to have quick 60ft if your 60ft is terrible your Quarter mile will be terrible. The WRX isn't a horrific top end killer so you have to come out of the hole as best as you can..

I did 14.409 at the track Sunday... I will definitely be in the 13's next time i go.

will i be faster than a s2000 doubt it.. they they have the upper hand all the way around besides ALL WHEEL DRIVE.

Just my 2 cents!!

Well, road and track got a 4.9 0-60 out of the S2000 (dropping it at 7K on a perfect day), with a 13.7 quarter mile respectively. I remember the test because they got the same 0-60 time out of an S2000 and NSX.

you need to be more specific then generalizing that a engine makes more torque than another engine. You need to look at total expended energy in what amount of time at the wheels.

The S2000 might make less torque, but it has a true close ratio 6 speed tranny--While the WRX has a 5 speed with overdrive and a slightly too high 3rd gear.

People that say the S2000 doesn't have enough torque haven't driven one, my dad has an S2000, and it has PLENTY of around town power. I would give up some of my torque in my 2.5rs if I could make more top end hp.

Dont get me wrong, for the price difference between a WRX and S2000, you could have some awesome performance upgrades.

Those S2000 numbers were on a perfect day, allowing launching tirespin while cool enough not to take away too much hp. I bet in real conditions a WRX with a boost controller would probably perform admirably if not faster than a S2000

I ran a 14.6 at 92 mph ,with a 2.2 60' time.
I can`t launch the car but with a quicker short time I could see low 14`s

Hey guys, send me or post your full times if you can. Even if you think you'll do better next time, your best time thusfar will do. It will be used as a valuable tool to see how all our cars perform, stock or otherwise. Thanks!

copec - Hate to tell you but in the April Road & Track someone pointed out to the magazine in "Your turn" section that they copied the 0-60 time as well as braking diestance from 60 from the NSX to the S2000.

So the magazine admitted that this was a typo and the actual 0-60 time on the S2000 was 5.5 seconds.

Don't get me wrong I am a HUGE Honda fan. I currently am trying to sell my 99 Prelude Type SH so I can get the WRX but I just wanted to point that out to you. Becuase when I initially read the comparison between the NSX and S2000 I about shat myself when they reported the S2000 doing a sub 5 second 0-60.

You are forgeting about torque. The S2000 only produces 153 ft-lbs of torque where as we produce 217.

I got 13.9 in the september 2000 Road and track for the S2000. Don't know if the newer version is faster though???? It is definitely faster and better in the slolom than the WRX. I was just trying to explain why they are close. The S2000 has no torque.

I remember reading in a honda message board that Steve Millen did a 0-60 in 4.9sec. Damn that is fast. You are gonna need one of these.

Copec:

Do you think the issue of the WRX not having a "good" tranny ratio to keep up there with S2000s and other cars may be fixed with other gearing setups if available later on? Or this idea is a waste of time on money?
