Question Big Question About Injen Cold Air Take For '03 TS

I am looking at an Injen Cold Air Intake and Catback for my TS. I am not looking to do a whole lot more power upgrades; I'm more interested in suspension upgrades. One concern I have is the fit of an intake to my model. When looking online, I select YEAR/MAKE/MODEL and it gives me my options, like most sights do. However, after I have selected a product, I get something along the lines of "fits Impreza WRX Wagon or Impreza WRX Sedan...". Should I be concerned that a cold air intake that will fit a REX may not fit my 2.5?

Kind of a two fold question then. Is this a turbo intake then; and if yes can I do it?

I too have a 03TS, so I can pass on my experience. I've looked into a number of bolt-on power upgrades and based on research and testimonials the only real thing that appears to make a noticeable difference are equal length headers (10-15hp). Every other bolt-on power "upgrade" seems to have minimal or questionable results. Therefore I've stuck with the OE air intake. But it's your money.

I'd forget the CAI and go with the suspension upgrades first. I've swtiched to a 2004 WRX wagon struts, springs and rear sway bar. The struts have since been replaced with GR2's. While this is not an aggressive tarmac suspension it is a good balance for snow, gravel and tarmac. I actually liked the TS suspension better on slippery snow - it was a lot more predictable and controlable - but there was just too much body roll for tarmac driving.

A cold air intake is a cold air intake. Im not sure what your engine bay looks like so i can't tell you what would fit in your car. Maybe ask this question in the Non-Turbo forum to see it this mod is worth the money. You may spend a couple hundred on 3 hp.

On a side not, i see you wanted to add suspension. I just added a 22mm rear sway bar to my car last night and am adding the front when i get back from vacation. You'll love the suspension mods. Such a big difference!

A turbo intake goes right before the maf sensor, then the air flows between the intake manifold runners then through the turbo, then to the intercooler and then goes to the throttle body. Whereas the n/a intake connects right to the throttle body. So no, it won't work. Not to be a smartass but if you know anyone with a wrx or sti, you should pop both hoods and compare.

The only way it will work is to do a wrx or sti motor swap.

Man, confusion abounds!

Injen makes a combo CAI/SRI that is a direct bolt-on for your car. Because you have a wagon, you will only be able to use it in the SRI configuration. Since us wagons don't get the fender flares, there's no room for a CAI in there. The Injen is VERY expensive for what it does. Cosmo Racing makes one that's a little ghetto (as in you should be prepared to work a little to get everything lined up and you probably want to replace the filter sooner rather than later) but it costs $300 less than the Injen.

Regarding gains, an 06 NA has been dynoed with a 13whp gain from a CAI alone, but there's no data for earlier models. You've got a MAP sensor, so it's worth poking at.

your user name and the fact you want a cold air intake may be really bad . lol . maybe it should be called cold water intake then you could actually post on the other thread and say you got water in your intercooler
