Oh, well I just went back and looked at the previous posts and I didn't see anything. So I'm going to ask......

What was the reason the motor came back apart? Please forgive me if you inferred it somehow and I missed it. I understand that you snatched a good deal on the pistons. (I always use CP's) And I understand that you want to use the 625's instead of re-using the L19's.

also are trying the new king xpg bearings with their oiling grooves. I took it apart because we were interested in how the motor looked. The drag season was over so we decided to change a few things around in hopes of more power.

Hey how's it going. Don't take this the wrong way but why take it apart if nothing wrong. You should have tested that setup at the track and go from there. You prob would have learned more. You would be surprised that power isn't everything on a Subaru. Nice build also. Stay with the hc pistons!!!!!! Lol. Good job guys

Turbotrix did the sleeving long time back. Their machinist retired and I send our blocks to a local machine shop now to get machining done. Head porting and heads I send to Headgames Motorworks, and we put all of it together at the shop.

Do you guys happen to use Steve for the machining now at SS Tool? He makes some parts for both of my companies (both car and non car related) and said he was doing sleeves for someone now when he came to visit last time. Just curious!

OT - They need to open that wall back up in front of the dyno!! lol. I tuned a few cars there this year over the summer and it was insanely hot in there with no circulation. lol!

No we use Weston Machine. I have to get a few simple brackets made. Does your buddy do cnc ?

Trust me we want to rip that wall down but neighbors complained about all the noise so we had to close it off permanently

Weston does really good work. I had a few chances to talk to Charlie over the years. Extremely intelligent guy. I've been there when they were machining giant cubic inch billet big blocks. Makes me wonder why we all piss around with 4 cylinders.

I'm thinking about going with the same bearings, let us know how they work out. And I'm with you on the teardown. Did the same thing with my car once the season was over.

We couldn't test it at the track because we couldn't fit real tires on it. So we tested it on the street

There was one main thing wrong and that was the studs. l19s were not really l19s, they were normal ARPs. I wasn't going to let him go ripping around on borrowed time with those ARPs knowing that they will break, lift a head and kick a rod. You know how much that **** sucks first hand. He thought he had good studs, I made him check

HP on the dyno isn't much, but being able to run at the power level made on the dyno is everything. Lots of guys make a number and then turn it down because its on the edge... hence the MPH some of the 600-700whp cars trap around here. This car can make passes at the power level it dynoed.. I could have posted a 850-875hp dyno chart easily. I know it can make passes at 800whp so I left it there.

well put. for it to make passes at 800 plus whp is saying something. I wondered if you guys dialed it way way down for the street or if you actually ran it at that power. pretty intense. the vids make the tune look very smooth.

That is what I am getting at. It was not turned down for the street. It was running the same way it was dyno'd, because it was not pushed to the brink of destruction.

Truth on the 4 banger stuff. We just built a 2010 Camaro for a customer and with a very basic build (stock bottom end but heads and cam done) the car put down 675whp with 7psi from a TVS2300. Really impressive for not a whole lot of money spent and a stock bottom end! (Vid is on my YT channel)

And cool on the machine shop, just happened to be coincidence then with my guy saying he does that at the same time. Yes, he does CNC work tho. I send him some ACAD drawings I make for adapter plates and other items, he punches them right out. Quick turn around and reasonable on the price. I listed his name and shop name above, tell him Nick from GT sent you, he'll help you out if you need!

Xdrian,

I'm about to pull my motor in prep for shaving/tucking the bay. Mind PM'ing me any tips, pointers? Are you using a milspec connector? How did you run your main harness to the engine, etc?

Thanks for posting up your build, tons of great information!
