Do the German dealerships honor american warranty? Do you guys get your TPMS programmed for your winter wheels or deal with the light?

Ill be moving to Spangdahlem in Oct...my concern is will tranny on a 2011 WRX handle the speeds of the autobahn. I plan to do a lot of traveling, especially to the mountains. Not looking to do a lot of mods right now, just need a reliable car to drive around for the time being. With speed limits being different in Germany (esp no limits on the autobahn) is there a likelihood that I will most likely run into issues with the tranny or motor??

use it til it blows then get a AER 0 interest loan to build for the autobahn.

Tranny is no issue. Rather mind your oil level not to blow your engine on the autobahn.

Yeah, I drive about 2 hours one way to the Nurburgring at least once a month.. No issues so far, I just always check my oil levels once I get there and home.

To original poster,

Driving on the autobahn is fun and in my opinion better to drive on than the states because majority of the drivers on the road here knows how to utilize the lanes.

All season tires should do the trick but most folks have summer and winter tires just to be extra safe.

Inspections on base can be a pain in the ass cause they will fail you for almost anything. Make sure there aren't any leaks or old oil/fuel spill buildup, no rust and your tire threads are good and you should be fine.

I have vodafone and I have no complaints with them. To me they're like the Verizon for Europe.

Travel is awesome, there's plenty to see here. Ryan Air as someone mentioned is your best bet for air travel. Though be mindful that they're price fluctuates and their flight schedules are weird when it comes to certain countries. Oh and they try to sell you everything, hell they might try to sell you your own organs if they could.

Oh and welcome to Germany!

It all depends on the inspector, some are really thorough and some just goes through real quick (especially when it's raining or if you just got your car steamed clean).

I pay full coverage through USAA...also note, that in the event of an accident, USAA will only cover you if you were traveling at 130 KPH or under...anything over, then you are SOL...this is what i heard, could be wrong.

I got quoted $350 for full coverage. I'm almost debating not bringing it there. I only pay 80 per month here for full coverage.

There are plenty of off post places to wash your car or there are also on post facilities that you can use. the usually roll up use coins or card and use the pressure washing and automatic soap dispensing or bring your own soaps and stuff.
