You can use any synthetic you like. Last winter I was using 4 qts RT6 and topping off with Subaru Syn 5W-30.

Exactly. And while not on the list, spirited driving falls under severe conditions too. So unless your doing all highway cruising the oil should be changed at 3,750 unless you have UOA's proving your oil can go longer in your exact situation.

^ Yep looks like X-Clean is a good candidate since its a thick 30wt. Been going nuts trying to figure out what oil to buy lol
Edit: is the Motul energy/resource conserving? Edit2: does not look like it. Would the dealers have an issue with this? Last edited by thescreensavers; 12-02-2012 at 07:14 PM. |

If you drive like an old lady then Castrol Edge 5W-30 is fine. Want an oil that meets Porsche, VW, Mercedes, and BMW specs, then go for German Castrol 0W-30. -Dennis Last edited by bluesubie; 12-13-2012 at 06:08 PM. |

Ok I am not understanding these "rip off" comments, ~$70 will be barely more than what you will pay for good oil and a filter.... That is a really good deal, my VW was ~$100 at the dealer when I used to get it done there. Plus this is for a 2013 subaru wrx.... they were not meant to be wallet friendly vehicles..... |

I think my point has been lost, what I'm getting at in a round about way is if you are in the financial position to afford a 30k+ vehicle being charged $70 for an oil change isn't unreasonable in the least. Which is why I own a POS
Don't get me wrong I am all about saving money but still.. |

Hell no...I do it because: a) I enjoy working on my own car b) I don't trust the people who do oil changes at the dealership/Jiffy Lube |

Personally I am much happier popping the valve on my fumoto open letting it go for an hour while I have some coffee on my couch. Then coming out and swapping the filter, filling it up and being on my way. |
