Ok so I don't want to be another making a thread about my POS BOV so I figure I'll go straight to the Guru, I have a turbo xs BOV on my 06 WRX and occasionally my car will die when I coast. I pulled the valve off and it had 2 washers in it already and seeing as i didnt have any washers laying around i threw in 2 quarters and the problem continues. I dont get any compressor surge at any boost level and im thinking/hoping that i just need to throw in some more spacers and the problem will go away... any suggestions?

Remove it and put the stock BPV on. That's the easiest solution.

i would try spacing it out some more, but if that doesn't work, you will need to get a different valve. turboxs valves are fairly notorious for leaking and causing idle/clutch-in issues so...

thanks guys i appreciate the help, i wish i had the money to buy a stock valve but thats just not an option right now. one more question though, if i just continue spacing until i get compressor surge and then back off till it stops surging, have i fixed my problem or could it still be leaking?
basically im just trying to fix my issue with out spending an money ha...

it may or may not still be leaking...kinda hard to say. those valves are just known for having some unfixable leaks sometimes. not all of them do, but alot of people have had issues that no matter what they did it wouldn't go away. i will say though, it is ALOT less likely to be leaking if it is properly adjusted. even if it is a hair towards the over-tight side, it is better than being a hair towards the under-tight side. basically, if the valve opens at 1psi instead of 1inhg, you aren't going to hurt anything. crawford performance has stated multiple times that they remove the valve completely and just cap it off on most builds they do, whether street or race. so having your valve sitting just a hair too tight isn't going to hurt anything at all.

Ok so this is my first turbo'd car so I am new to this but I guess I have a Turbo xs BPV or a 50/50? I deffinatly hear the whoosh of a bov but there is a large hose coming off the bottom of the valve Im guessing thats going to the intake like a BPV. Should I be having these issues with a BPV or could something else be the problem?

if it is a 50/50 valve, then it still would need to be adjusted/installed properly to not have issues. if it is a BPV and not a 50/50 bov, then you shouldn't have any adjusting to do or anything, and you shouldn't be having issues with it at idle.

Video of the GFB Hybrid BOV on my car:

I took it easy on the shifting, so you could hopefully hear the valve better. I also did plenty of partial boost shifts so you could hear that it doesn't flutter (like I've had problems with). Unfortunately I had the driver's window up (and the other 3 cracked), so you can't really hear it as well as you could if they all were open. We'll see if I get tired of it or not. Right now I really like it. It seems very responsive, and really isn't all that loud.

Yeah so will I hear compressor surge still with a 50/50? I must have a 50/50 since Im hearing the woosh at higher boost levels I guess? Sorry for all the questions just new to all this ha.

Look at it with your eyes. It should be very obvious if you have a 50/50 valve or not.
