Anybody running this turbo? Thinking of using it on my setup and want to see what numbers people are putting up with this and how the driveability is. I see tons of evo's running it, but no subies.

because to make use of this turbo you will have to rev to at least 8500.Look at the dyno sheet on fp's sight with awd's evo they are running it out to 8800.

There are Not tons of evos running this turbo. Its considered a straight "drag" turbo, on a subie that only revs to 7500, it will be pointless.
Its a very well designed turbo for the straight line guy, imo I rev my evo to 9500 and havent even considered it probably because theres not enough open road around pwc without worrying about 5-0
It will make 900 whp if your motor is set up for it. AWD Motorsports went 8.80's with it in a street car. You could compare it to a pte 6765 but its a little bigger.

500lbs @ 5000rpms? Thats on a 2.4L evo.

On a short runner manifold this thing would work very well on a properly setup car. ER was reporting 250rpm later spool over the HTA3586.

****... this is little girls stuff... i say run it! that turbo will make full power on a efficient subaru engine around 5800rpm. and i mean that is whatever boost pressure your wanting to run at 18+ psi. I ran a 67mm turbo on my 2.5RS when i had it and absolutely loved it. I spun 8000rpm out of the engine and had full boost before 6k. Made for great street setup.

Maybe on a evo - on a subie the hta3586 comes on 4k

if you catch 30psi at 5000rpm and redline at 8000rpm that is 3000rpm of peak power, and if you catch 30psi at 4000rpm and redline at 7000rpm that is 3000rpm of peak power...whats the difference...its pretty easy to get the 2.5 to run out to 8000rpm, and its not like there won't be any power before 5000rpm. no it won't be an awesome autocross turbo or anything like that, but different strokes for different folks...it all depends on your driving style, habits, and goals for the car...

i agree...i had so many people tell me that the fpred 8cm was going to be too much lag for a daily driver, and man am i glad i didn't listen to them. i honestly love it and wouldn't have it any other way, and if i would have listened to everyone else, i would already be looking to upgrade to something bigger only 1 year later. really, once you learn your powerband and what gears put you in it at what mph, it drives just like any other turbo car...just takes a little getting used to and then you are good to go...

^ on a car that AVCS you can make large turbos come on very fast.

I'd like to see a Subie with a 3794 - we have at least one at our shop that will be running one in the near future

How do these connect to the uppipe? I have a full v-band setup now with tial hotside. Would this be plug and play or will I need a new hotside. Or would my 35r frame tial hotside fit on the 3794?

^^^^ If im correct, since this turbo is in a 35r frame, I dont see what the issue would be since your tial hotside is mated to the frame of your garret turbo now so I would go ahead and bet that it would fit no problem.

i think it will be a waste on a street subaru, been looking at this turbo for awhile for my evo and its just not worth it on a street/strip car. if you read ER post on evom its not just about spool. its also about how much boost you have to run before you make this turbo happy, he said that at 25psi it made 50whp LESS than his hta86 setup. and its even less attractive on a subaru because of the revs. you can pull an evo to 9500 with just a basic engine set-up 8500 on a subaru is pushing it without major head/oiling work from what ive heard. just doent seem worth it considering even ballz out its only good for 80-100whp over an 86 most setups wont even see 50whp over an 86 setup

^^^^I agree ,I run the hta3586 and would be hesiatant to run anything bigger for street /strip use.

No offense but that 2.4 only gets revved to 8500, well within the limits of a good built suby motor. So its got plenty of power band. Ya its an evo but you suby guys do have 2.5l motors. The turbo is worth more then 80-100whp balls out. Awdmotorsports made 901whp @ 46 psi with very mild cosworth cams on stock ecu. Granted I'm throwing evo references out. But the OP didn't even list what his supporting mods were. For all you know its a sleeved 2.7 stroker that can handle more then 30 psi of boost.

The above thinking is usually while subaru guys are number 2 in most instances.

On a non-rotated setup aka front mount this turbo would perform insanely well. Far better then any 40r and most 42r setups.

im running my fpred at 30psi and 30* timing at redline on my daily driver without sleeves with no problems. with sleeves you shouldn't have any problems running close to 40psi as long as you don't go crazy with the bore. i think that this turbo can't be much worse, if any, than a 40 or 42R, and there are people that run those on street cars without issues or complaints. also, if it is a 2.3L destroked setup with built heads, there are guys running out to 9000rpm daily on those things...AND...if it is a 2.7L with built heads, you may be able to spool this thing sooner and you would still be able to run out to 8000rpm. lastly, if either one of these setups are run with decent cylinder wall thickness (sleeves) and headbolts, there is no reason you couldn't run it out well into the 30's daily, and i find it hard to believe that you wouldn't see quite a bit more than a 35R with this kind of setup.

Well, I'm ordering the turbo. We'll see how it works out. Motor is done and the trans is still being assembled. Motor is a hybrid, 2.5l block with 2.0l heads, cams, the usual things. Hopefully the car will make some power!

any headwork besides the cams. the 2.0L heads may have a hard time flowing that much cfm in stock form...they will do it, but you will be limited in power gains without some headwork...

...either way, good luck and definitely post up results...
