wrong forum man, this is supposed to be in FACTORY forced induction. But to answer your question, if I was to buy any uppipe, it would be PDE or a JDM catless.

Ignore Kaos200. If your car has FACTORY forced induction (turbo from the factory) then your in the right place.

There have been no scientific tests done to answer your question. No side-by-side comparison dynos have every been done with uppipes on the same car, same dyno, same day. So no one really know which one would give you more torque. That being said I would recommend APS if your were to buy one.

A guy did test gutting his uppipe -vs- an aftermarket upipe and they were identical in HP and Torque. Not bad for a free mod.

I'd be very surprised if there was a performance difference between aftermarket uppipes. Even the various uppipe manufacturers don't claim to make more power than competing uppipes.

I'd have to agree with Mattr; go with the APS uppipe...it's got some pretty slick tweaks built into its design. AFAIK none of the other aftermarket uppipes can compare. I'll probably switch to the APS pipe when I upgrade turbos...I'm tired of dealing with my leaky upipe

uhh this thread WAS in the Aftermarket Forced Induction forum but thanks to kaos200, it was moved to this forum.

At any rate, the uppipe to choose for best torque would be one that is not oversized (meaning the ID is less than 2" since the turbo inlet is less than 2").

Oversized uppipes do not flow better when they still have to go into an inlet that is smaller. The Perrin and Vishnu pipes are both made of very high quality materials and correctly designed, size and fit wise. The perrin is much lower price though.

I'd highly recommend using header wrap on any uppipe you end up with. The added heat retention will garuntee faster turbo spooling and less escaped heat to the engine bay to heatsoak your coolant/intercooler/oil.

Theoretically the APS uppipe should be superior as it appears to be a heavy cast material and there should be less heat loss before entering the turbo and therefore should slightly improve spool-up.

Also, castings tolerate heatwrap much better than tubular manifolds.

APS or Perrin are the 2 best Uppipes on the market today, I think.

The factory turbo inlet is 45mm which is equal to 1.772" So you want an uppipe that is exactly that for optimum flow (less turbulance).

well the vishnu has reinforced flanges (via sleeves) so i'd say structurally the vishnu is slightly better.. if you were making a "best" list i'd include:

(1) APS (best by far thanks to it's cast iron and flex joint)
(2) Vishnu (high quality materials, very strong)
(3) Perrin (hi-quality matls, thoughtful bungless design, low price)

thanks for posting the exact dimensions. Yep, any pipe bigger than that on a stock turbo is just foofy-arsed b.s. and isn't going to help anything.

I agree with the theory, but I would go with a ceramic coating. That's what I did to mine (Godspeed). Works just as well as thermal wrap, but you don't have to worry about the thermal wrap getting wet and holding moisture against your uppipe (though this isn't a huge issue with good 321 Stainless steel, I still wouldn't want to do it).
