Yes, Service Program WQC-39, was just received via snail mail.

I would guess it is mostly PZEV cars, but for some reason NH was not included?

In any case it will cause the check engine light to illuminate in conditions of coolant temperature variations, but does not affect drivability or performance of the engine.

It seems like a Cover their Ass update, to correct for a rare event that must have fried someones car...

FYI I never really registered with SOA online to do anything, though I know they had my email because I preordered and received emails from them.

I decided to track maintenance using Gas Cubby on my iPhone and not their online service, so maybe that explains why they mailed it to me.

No email or snail mail (yet) here, but it is listed under the recalls section of my.subaru.com, so I guess it applies to me.

I've been putting off bringing mine in for an A/C leak, I guess I can put off this too and do them at the same time... which'll probably be next time it's 90° and I kick myself for putting it off... heh.

I wouldn't put off repairing an A/C leak. A/C helps defog your windows, and it's good for the A/C's seals to have the A/C coolant circulate periodically, even in the winter. Summer isn't the only time that a functional A/C is useful.

The car's under warranty. Get this fixed sooner rather than later. The recall just makes the visit to your dealership easier to justify.

Just returned from the dealer who said Subaru is "not yet ready" for this recall. (In spite of my making an appointment). Be sure you check that your dealer knows which recall you need. Curious if anyone else has this difficulty.

That's kind of rediculous... Subaru issues a recall and the dealer tells you that they're not ready for it yet even after making an appointment!? Stupid if you ask me.

When is considered 'earlier this year'? My car was built in March and it's not PZEV.

Do you guys use mysubaru.com to keep track of your maintenance records then? I wish there is something similar for those of us in Canada.

I do, although I've been a little negligent. I changed my own oil/filter two weeks ago, and haven't gotten around to updating mysubaru.com with that data yet.

I guess I mainly do it so that Subaru will have a running record that I'm keeping up with the maintenance, since I don't bring the car to the dealership for that work. My car hasn't been at the dealership since June when I bought it.

Anyone know if this updates all of the ECM code to a new version or just applies one specific fix?

I have one of the first 2012 Imprezas made, I never got the ECM update to address wonky acceleration in the early cars. And I never got the update to reduce the engine braking when going downhill...

Both of those were limited to when the vehicle was assembled. I pre-ordered early and only one of the changes was needed. Can't remember which. One was for the ECU and the other for the ECM.

Based on VIN, my car was like ~#2000 rolling off the assembly line. So no idea if I need the update or not, but I would like to hope the ECM fix also includes the latest ECM version and not just a one line fix...

How do you extract this info from the VIN? Are you just looking at the last six digits of the VIN?

There was a list of VINs a while ago, and since VINs are produced sequentially, people could figure out how far into the process their car was made.

Does Subaru see the records too? Or is it mainly just for keeping track yourself?
