Question So what's up with my front fender liners? (2011 WRX Hatch)

Was changing turn signal bulbs the other day and I noticed my left and right front fender liners don't quite fit the same.

My front-right is perfect and went back perfect

My front left was stretched into place, drilled wrong in the middle, and near impossible to stretch back on correctly, this the best it would go:

The hole in my bumper that it attaches to is about two inches below what I believe to be a factory created hole. I guess a shop that the previous owner went to drilled a hole close to the edge to try and get it to fit, and that just tore out

Is this possibly an inner fender liner from an 08-10? It fits fine along the inner fender, but doesn't quite fit up along the front bumper, it's off by about 1/2in.

I'm confused.

Thanks,

-- Dave

I did just find an old pic of an 08 liner, so I don't think that's it.

Here's a better shot of mine:

VS an 08:

They are definitely very different in shape where the bumper meets the fender... the 08 has a big divot in the plastic, the 2011 does not.

You can definitely see how I'm missing a proper hole drilled for the center fastener though... It was definitely hand-created and too close to the edge...

On closer inspection, my passenger liner might actually be trimmed 1/8in near that center fastener...

The liner used to be tucked in on the back side of the bumper vs on top as you see it now. I bet the tech that worked on it last tried to put it back together that way and couldn't get it to fit, so he trimmed it and stuck a fastener in...

That still doesn't explain the extra hole... unless he was using a screwdriver inside of that to try and push the liner into place...

looks like a new hole was drilled at some point.
