actually, there is alot of evidence pointing toward NOT using a FMIC for turbos on the smaller side (smaller than the fp green ish).

fmic's, being heavier, for one, and decreasing the response time of these smaller turbos has been understood to actually make cars slower. let alone all the hassle of all the boost leaks you can have.

< i have a fmic, on a vf30. why? my car never came with a hood scoop, and thats how the original owner fixed the problem. at these power levels it is not really necessary to have a fmic.

Mikey, I have not been up for a retune. Its a 800 mile trip so it will take a lot of planning to make it during the week.

A buddy of mine told me that I can use his map. He has a VF39 on a 02 wrx with your basic PNP modes(pinks, walbo FP, ect.). Do you guys think using a VF39 map would work? Even if we had the same supportign mods expect the turbo? Also would that cut my HP short of full potential?

it seems like we are going back and fourth a lot...i have an 08 wrx and have an FMIC so either one is fine by me....my goals are 12.70 on pump and 12.50 on race.....would the vf48 take care of my issues...i have found a vf48 brand new for 700 but have also found an 875 dollar 18g td06sl http://www.amsperformance.com/cart/S...mance.com.html and just dont wana spend money only to regret it in a couple weeks (even tho i know both turbos will get old eventually)....if anyone could help me out thatd be great....and btw i am neither an ihi nor mitsu fan, just wondering what the best product is

i think it depends on what u wana do...there is no doubt u can add more timing up top and possibly lean it out a bit more on the FMIC...will your lag suffer? of course....prolly only about 300rpmish...of course this all depends on the turbo...on the stock turbo?probably not worth the hassel, but anything bigger id say go for the FMIC

There was a thread in PPB VERY recently showing before and after dynos for only FMIC vs TMIC.. and the top mount actually made more peak tq and hp as well as hit full boost just as early along with 18-22whp more at redline.

Nope its should hold well on your 2.5. You will just see more torque!

I like the torque idea but i think my tranny will go like you did

But my plans will go on hold for now I'm closing the deal on a new home, so my girl would not be happy if I keep spending money on the car and live the hose w/o furniture

But thanks for the help anyway!

no, it wont hold well on the 2.5 being that it has .5 more liters of displacement, at the same psi it flows more cfm than the 2.0. this turbo will be well beyond its efficiency island if you are expecting it to hold 18-20 to redline or somthing retarded.

read the turbo faq posts, there are cfm points for the 2.0 and 2.5 at 7k rpms at different psi numbers.

Good price, but the 7cm may result in boost creep.

holding boost, and holding power are 2 different things. you can make up for less boost with more timing, etc. I was talking about holding boost.

I'll be posting the dyno on my set up in the next 2+ weeks when I am back from vacation. I've also got 850cc injectors for getting an E85 tune: there are something like 100 E85 gas stations here in Michigan................... incase anyone is interested in seeing what E85 does on the stocker TD04, then check out this link on IWSTI: http://www.iwsti.com/forums/gr-membe...8-swp-wrx.html
