Drifte 06' Aspen white STI journal stock turbo E85
Back into a Subaru again, and thought I would post up. Will also be a way for me to log the changes and maybe get help on some things.
Car came from California, made a trip to Tennessee, and then I picked it up January 17th 2015. As soon as I got it home I gave it a good wash, and prepared it for its first winter. Gave it a wash, clay bar and wax. Changed the oil, and started ordering parts. Present day (3-2016) First day in the slop

Continental extreme dw Fender liner in, had most of the clips and bolts on hand fortunately Flaps on and hosed down, should stay cleaner now. They're black..dont show up to well. |

Power steering was bothering me, read up about the o-ring failure on the suction side. Replaced it, jacked up the front and bleed the system. No longer a hint of noise and perfect operation...Im never that lucky.
Painted the silver mesh in the hood scoop black Got my accessport back with a bright new screen ($25 repair) Time to flash the stage 2 map All the codes due to the TGV delete started popping up. Working on clearing them all out still. Quick check to see the change in power, much improved, overboosting a touch. target boost: 17.3psi peak. Checked the DCCD code, got a 33 for brake circuit open. Cant seem to find any information on that. Hoping to avoid the dealer. A little wiring and we have movies on the go (for my passengers) Amp/sub is Kicker ix500.1 and polk dxi12". Factory speakers. |

^Thanks man. Onto the updates.
Its sat parked and clean while we have an awesome snow storm. Couldn't take it anymore, and picked up a winter wheel/tire setup. Using Drag 31's in black, on some new all seasons. I'll be using my tire siping tool to make them a little better on ice, but they've been working great so far. Test fit in the garage, rears still in the air here. Tried to snap a pic, but it immediately got dirty. |

Took my car to my buddies shop to see if his scanners could read DCCD trouble codes, and it sure can. Saved me the Subaru Dealership fee's. And the scanner picked up the common Steerig angle sensor issue. It reads zero at all times, like its not even plugged in...possible?
Anyway, took a road trip. Wifes driving here, while I take a power nap in the back. Snapped a pic this morning for no good reason. Summer wheels starting to get a clean. Looks like I have a few open spots for relays. Wonder what option that is that Im missing? Sunroof I know. Just need to order that steering angle sensor from somewhere, and then its onto freshening up the brakes. Drives side valve cover is seeping some oil. Probably pull both, replace gaskets and do a wrinkle red finish for those. And some fog lights, factory lights even adjusted up dont seem to be enough. |

Neglected to update for some time now.
adjusted the coilovers a bit this spring, ran pretty low all summer. Lip off in this shot. Buddies turbo Miata cone crusher New plate. Tuna New roof rack. with the custom plates to bolt into the rain gutter. new valve cover gaskets. Wrinkle red, lots of prep went into these, and you can barely see them. First snow of the year, out with my buddy in his 09 LG 3.0R Covered parking at work, cannot complain! [img]http://i.imgur.com/X4UllNG.jpg[/img Plow snow a bit, raised the car an inch and a half before this winters snow fall. Lots of IG pics I know, but was out on the old farm getting in some country boarding and had to snag this shot. Last edited by drifte; 01-18-2016 at 05:02 PM. |

I had a part throttle choppy/jumpiness that I thought I had narrowed down to a cracked turbo inlet pipe, and installed this black silicone intake in its place.
As it turns out, a new front 02 sensor fixed a lot of issues. After which my gas mileage improved and we went for a road trip, ave. 27mpg if I remember right. The Seibon carbon fiber hood lacked an intercooler shroud of any kind. I put together a sheet metal one and hope its helping. $200 for a nice aftermarket one, so I'll save my pennies The hood also needed pins, so I ordered in some white aerolatch hood pins and went to work. Eventually the hoods getting painted, but my date with the body guy keeps getting moved. Had a headlight fill with water in a flash flood scenario where I really didnt hit that much of a puddle. It killed the HID, so I decided to black out the housing and install LED's throughout. Its a bit of a process, but Im happy with it. I've got a fender well intake fabbed up, where my buddy machined me a maf plate and welded it onto some 3". I will install it after winter, it should help a lot with my intake temps. and lastly, another shot of the finish on the valve covers, IG filter FTL. |

Somewhere along the way I flushed my brake fluid, and did new rotors and stoptech pads.
guess I did brakes before both fender liners came in. had a bad time getting one caliper bolt out, eventually got it done, together, and flushed and bled the whole system spent a week in Slo4cyl garage, where subies arent normally welcome. I did a leak down test to assure myself of a somewhat problem free future. All is good, and I put some fresh plugs in. |

One year anniversary with the car today. Pic on the way home from picking it up. Bought it with 105k, now it has 112k. Still need to get the hood painted, and the steering angle sensor replaced. Once those things are done, the injectors and fuel pump can go in, and the switch to e85 can begin.

Finally got around to putting on the new back brakes. Napa seems to sell the best rotors for a good price. These were $53 a peice and I think the stoptech pads were under $50. Hard to remember now I bought them so long ago, and put this job off just a touch too long.
Passenger side all wrapped up quick and easy. The Napa rotors are nice, come painted so no extra work for me. The drivers side, decided to be a pain. The caliper bolt snapped off, but I managed to get the caliper off. So now we will weld a nut to whats left of the bolt and back it out. Im betting the threads are ruined, so will have to helicoil this time. (front caliper did the same thing.) Now I have to bleed the brakes again, which isnt a bad thing to do I suppose. |

Caliper fixed up, though lost some paint in the process. Hopefully the car is ready to go now. In the mean time I've been driving my 87 s10, and its not great in the snow.

Thanks!
Brake banjo bolt developed this strange uneven spot, and leaked. I didnt know how hard it was to source a replacement. The STI and WRX fortunately use the same bolt, and i picked one up from a local Subaru shop. I believe the rear brake banjo specs were M10-1.0 21mm long. No one stocks 1.0 banjo bolts. But back on the road just in time for this big snow the Midwest is supposed to get. And sadly Im contemplating a trade in on a new truck to get my home remodeling done. We will see, I know I dont want to lose the car, but its the only way to get a truck when even a mid size pickup starts at $30k these days. Some lonely brake bleeding to fill my sunday The strange spot on the original banjo bolt: |

Picked up a redline goods shift boot, e-brake boot and arm rest cover. I prefer the look over the blue, but the fitment isnt ideal.

Tial QR on today with a nice adapter for the stock STI top mount. No real reason for it, was a good price. |

Tial seems to operate perfectly, no drive-ability issues, no flutter at part or full throttle gear changes. Only issue is its size, I had to unbolt the crossover pipe on the intercooler to clear. Definitely not a needed part since I run 20psi, and the stock diverter should handle 23 without leaking. |

Nice car.
Emissions air-pump relay (top left) and secondary air combination cut relay 1 and 2 (middle). Your 2006 STI does not have this system in place from the factory. |

It would also seem the stock diverter was leaking, as I now hit boost cut from over boosting with the new bov, other than that Ive had no changes made. Drove to Chicago and back after a trip to Cancun, car did great and is surprisngly comfortable doing 4+ hr drives. Only managed 25mpg to chicago, and 21 back with a head wind. Time to start learning to tune for gas mileage. |

I have my car back now and now I worry about it constantly, dreading the first scratch or ding it gets.
I really need to have the front bumper freshened up, and replace that old beat up lip. Another day. Now its time to head out and swap on the summer wheels/tires and ditch the roof rack. Last edited by drifte; 03-25-2016 at 09:14 AM. |

Yes, where the stock bypass valve has a built in 90, the Tial does not.
The kit included a 90deg bend, with a metal adapter to go from that 90, to the stock recirc hose (different diameters). tracked down some pics from the seller. Last edited by drifte; 03-31-2016 at 09:42 AM. |
