oil filter difference?
Just changed the oil on my 2001 Forester, and noticed the factory oil filter had a serial number ending in 14460. The filter I got at the dealer had a number that ends in 14424. Can anyone tell me what the difference is, and should I worry about it. I peviously had a 1998 Forester, and I believe it used the 14424 filter. It appeared to fit fine. Any help will be appreciated.

I say if the shoe fits....
But just give a call to the service dept...it couldn't hurt. My neighbor had to take his Legacy into the dealership twice, because he kept getting a whistling noise in his exhaust. It turns out they were putting the wrong gasket which didn't fit right! |
