De badging
I'm thinking of de badging my 12' impreza 5 door. I've de badged all of my cars before, but I want to see a pic of one without the badges or with most of them gone before I do it. Anyone have a pic?

What's the best way to remove badges? 3m adhesive remover and dental floss?

heat gun and your hands...pry the badges off and rub your thumb to ball up and remove the sticky gunk

I let the rear of my car sit in direct sunlight for a few hours and then was able to get them off with my hands, no problem.

Heat gun and fishing line have always worked for me. There will be a residue left over and possibly some marking so have some 3m adhesive remover and polish ready.

The car is so new that I pulled the badges off with my finger nails. Most of the glue came off with the badges but I did have to use a little bug and tar remover for the last couple parts.

I was in the Auto Industry for over 14 years, You don't need a heat gun, a simple blow dryer will do the trick, make sure area is clean, put hair dryer about 6 inches away from Badges, and after about 1 minute sometimes longer, I use a gardening glove or leather glove and slowly loosen the badge up, then use goo b gone and remember to clean and wax immediately otherwise in not to Long you will see a difference in paint appearance and color.
I have to laugh at how many times I have heard about and scene the results of impatient people with Heat Guns completly jack up their paint job, No Heat Gun Hair Dryer |

nice job on the de-badging everyone. good to see i'm not the only one who does this. i have always used direct sunlight and a plastic spatula. once the spatula has the corner peeled up, fingertips do the rest

I just debadged my 2012 Impreza Premium. It is Marine Blue. I will try to remember to post the pics when I get home tonight. I will say it looks way better without "SUBARU", "IMPREZA", "AWD" AND "PZEV". Since the car is new debadging is so easy. Heat up the badges (hair dryer on high) then use fishing line to remove. No marks or "ghosting" left behind. I did use a little 3M adheshive remover. That just made it easier. I could have gotten everything off with just heat.

I did it right after I brought the car home. This car was uber easy compared to others I have done in the past. I think they slap these on at the Port. So these were only on my car for a few days.

I'm still on the fence about the whole debadging thing. I definitely looks cleaner, but it almost makes the rear-end look too bare... especially on the 2012's.

I used a hairdryer and dental floss. I only used the hairdryer on the sport badge, the others came off really easy. The hard part was getting the PZEV sticker off the window :\

im debating too but slowly leaning towards debadging my DGM 2012 impreza sport.. i think the cleaner look might be better than the overcrowded quad badge (5-badges if you count the PZEV!).. just my 2 cents! looks nice on the DGM sedan, btw!

I think completely debadged looks a little empty. I reapplied the AWD badge.
All the stock badges are a little too much I believe. If I had a sport I would leave that badge. |
