Post Loss of power with Unorthodox pulley

I plan on having 3 amps (2 for speakers, 1 for subs) with a 1.0farad cap for them. I'd like to get an Unorthodox racing underdrive pulley, but wanted to know how badly will it affect the increased load on the bettery because of the amps?

Spinning the alt slower will decrease it's current output, the faster it spins the more current produced.

Power pullies gain you power by spinning things slower, you shouldn't worry too much about it with the system outlined. You may get dimming headlights at stop-lights.

Note: the power you have gained by adding the pully is lost by the extra weight of your system.

I have always failed to see pullies as helping out anything.

Ah...I think their lighter weight results in noticeably quicker revving...$.02 of pulley user.

fellfrosch, I have a punch 400 and 800 running in my prez and receive no power problems at all, the pully is from cobb tunning and I am not sure what kind it is.. If you run atleast a 4 gauge wire, witch you should, you won't have any problems...

I believe someone installed a '92-'95 SVX alternator on their car. I forget who it was.

Yeah.. it was a 91'-95 SVX alt into a early 90's Impreza L. He did mention that the voltage output was higher tho... somewhere arounf 15.5volts. (Which my Alpine V12 amps will take full advantage of... bwuhahahahahaha)

It all depends on your set up. I have two high power amps (125x2 for front, 1x400 for subs) and an underdrive pulley and I haven't notice any dimmming or power loss.

Ohio Generator Makes A 165amp Altornator That is 2lb liter the your stock Alt ( if that matters to u ). I have one, just put a pulley in, idle at 12.2 with my system on (2 P/G ZX 600 & a 475) & no lights diming. But the Alt. did cost $800 Clams!
