see the thread in motorsports for all of the details..

2 experienced spectators were killed
freak accident from the sounds of it...

it's a horrible thing to have happen.
but it shouldnt stop our regional series from competing.

this is WRONG - as usual SCCA = knee jerk reactions to everything

Sue Robinson called Ben Bradley who I talked to a few hours ago...sounds like we won't even get to have the Sprints in August.

Oregon Trail is still a go because it is a Pro Event ....oh and rallycrosses can still happen...

Sad news indeed.

Yeah it doesn't make much sense to single out the club rallies and not the pro...

Guess only time will tell what happens...

pro rally = more exposure, more $$

This is so stupid... if they're going to suspend club rally they should also suspend auto and rallycross as well as pro rally. Stupid reaction imho.

This is racing. this isnt a daytrip into the woods where the rally cars carry picknick baskets instead of spares. thats a horrible thing that happened at sawmill but what people must understand is that it is racing. racing in all forms is dangerous. dangerous for spectators and dangerous for the competitors. high speeds on gravel experienced and inexperienced can lead to disaster. they cant treat this case like an ebola scare. i truley feel sorry for those who lost there lives and their families, but canceling all club season is horribly wrong.

seeing as how the club rally scene is already strapped for funds; what will happen when the families file a lawsuit and sue SCCA. The dark cloud of doom is emerging.

This may be bad thinking but its lucky this dint happen at a televised event. between mitsus and subarus rally commercials it would truley damping their campaign. The news would spread much more nation wide than that of the incident at a club class rally.

I gather they were not at an assigned spectator area, so in my opinion they're on their own. Unfortunately the trial lawyers don't agree and there will undoubtedly be a lawsuit.
