Did the ceramic coaters give any insight as what actually happened in those pictures? It definitely looks like the coating corroded?

I was wondering if anyone has an SPT or a similar 3" exhaust? i am curious if the headers made your exhaust louder decible wise?? i know the UEL rumble is def lower pitch and deeper than the EL but does the headers make your car noticeably louder compared to the EL's with an aftermarket exhaust??

Thanks for your help!!!

I think it depends on the status of your stock header. My 06 with 120K with just a 3"axleback got slightly quieter with the new headers

Mike,

Just to be clear if a person ordered today they would be getting a 4-2-1 version, if they order say 4 months from now they will be getting a 4-1 or will there be an option between 4-2-1 and 4-1 ? Also how far along are the 4-1 versions and when will you start taking deposits/payments for them?

Question 4-2-1 and 4-1 Custom Headers

Correct me if I am wrong Mike, but from what I gathered here on the forums and you of course , the 4-2-1 header is for mid to high end power gains. And the 4-1 is for low to mid power gains. The 12-13 Impreza 2.0i is lacking in the high end power for passing on high way roads. I will confirm this theory when I install my header from RalliSport Racing. I am guessing by keeping the pipe diameter consistent from header to muffler @ 2.25" I should gain the power gains that I am looking for. My entire exhaust including my OEM 2013 BRZ muffler is undergoing a complete Cerma Krome Coating. The salt on these NY roads kill your T-304 Stainless Steel system, you spent ALL that money on your custom exhaust, you should protect it as well and it will last you the lifetime of the car.
I am going to get my system done by sections, because as we all know CKC is very expensive. And the wife is already nagging on my expenses for this car. cough cough cough,
Right now all I have on the stock system is the BRZ muffler, and I can feel a difference on the high way. The butcher local muffler shop did a cheap A"" job with the stretched "S" pipe from the stock mid-pipe to the BRZ muffler, horrible work, but for now it will do.
Right now I don't trust any other person to do what I want done to my car exhaust, that is why I will pay the higher price for quality work. I never met Mike in person. I only know him from the here on the forums and already I have GOOD vibes from this gentleman. He knows what he is doing and his work shows it. There where a few members here bad mouthing Mike, but I am not going to feed into that, not my style. Do some research before you lash out on someone. Yeah, his work is more expensive than general production line work, but you can't compare it to custom mandrel bent piping and perfect welding marks, a work of art.

That header is being sent back to me, so rather than speculate, I'll wait until I have it in my hands so we can determine the cause of the failure.

To clear things up, that was actually not a 2.5i header, it was a pic from my 2.0i header thread. I later modified it into a 4-2-1 header and it now looks like this:

Member ZURCALED12 purchased this 2.0i prototype (with optional Cerma Krome ceramic coating).

What IS relevant about this particular header is that the soon to be released 2.5i 4-2-1 v3 header will be based on this design (The 2.5i version will not look exactly the same, but will be similar. I'll have a finished prototype soon)

I fully expect the v3 to outperform the v2, especially in the low-mid range. The v3 will definitely cost more than the v2, so I'll probably continue to offer the v2 as a lower cost alternative.

The 4-1 performance header is still up in the air. My original no compromises design would have come with a $950 price tag, so there will obviously need to be some compromises made with design vs final cost. The 4-2-1 v3 header should help bridge the gap of lower cost performance in the mean time.

Actually, the opposite is true: 4-1 offers more peak hp, while 4-2-1 offers more midrange. That of course is a gross over simplification, especially with 4-1/4-2-1 hybrids and the wide spectrum tuning potential that the 4-2-1 design offers. The header you purchased is a far superior design over the 2.0i factory header and you will be very pleased with the mid-top end power increase. (To minimize any future confusion of my 2.5i and 2.0i headers, I'd like to keep this thread focused on the 2.5i and keep all 2.0i header questions in the appropriate thread )

Thomas_Mac is the most patient customer on planet earth and therefore will be rewarded with the first v3 on earth.

Good news: I have tentatively booked dyno time on the 13th and will be comparing the factory header vs the v2, and the v2 vs the v3 (using a customer's car). Should be interesting.

I will probably post the results in a new thread, as this one is getting a little long winded and I assume pretty difficult for members to find the info they seek.

So I'm not sure if I have a problem with either the header or my car at this point. I bought the fast motorsports carback exhaust. 2010 2.5i hatch. I'm getting rattling (almost sounds like a dirt bike) from 3k-5k when I step on it. I thought it was the muffler. So I took off the muffler section and then it sounded like a super dirt bike. So my only guess is that it is coming from my cat, header, or my car is broke. Any ideas?

I didn't hear any rattling, I heard the telltale sign of excessive rasp: no resonator and/or too small of a muffler.

If this is your catback:

then you have no mid pipe resonator and that's whats causing the noise.

If you have this catback:

then you have a tiny resonator and a fart can style muffler, which is causing the noise.

*Just my opinion based on what I heard in the video. It's difficult to properly diagnose without being there in person*

Vibrant Super quiet resonator, 2.25" piping and a nice solid muffler like a Borla XR1 or Flow 60 series (tip of choice) you should be good!

Sounds like bad rasp. I get a similar sound when I floor it shortly after a cold start.

Definitely rasp! +1 for a resonator.
I installed this:http://www.amazon.com/Flowmaster-12412400-HP-2-Shortie-Muffler/dp/B000QJMY9K/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_2?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1365200693&sr=1-2-fkmr1&keywords=magnaflow+hp2+resonatorWorked great, but it quieted down my exhaust almost too much..
Besides if your header did really fail, Mike would most likely fix it
