Default No Fuel Return Line? '06 Forrester 2.5 intake

Hey all.

Background:

Car is a 90 Legacy. Currently running a 99 2.5 using original EJ22 harness, TB, and ECU.

Had problems with the engine in piston #4, possibly due to bad injector. Knocks badly now. Now, these particular injectors are different than any other Phase II injectors we can find. So we are going to use the intake/injectors from the 2006 2.5 we just purchased. (we will also have to swap the heads out for Non-AVLS heads)

We're putting the EJ22 throttle body on it, along with the EJ22 harness and solenoid. EGR will be blocked off. No IAC.

The major problem we are facing is that the '06 intake has no return line for the fuel. It's as if the Pump just deadheads against the regulators. Is this correct?

My question to the Nasioc Community, is will the pump in the legacy suffer if we don't have a return line?

Any input from those running this newer fuel rail setup in an older car is greatly appreciated.
