All I have to say is, good luck with finding an RS-RA. They aren't exactly easy to locate. I bought a rolling body about a year ago. Chassis code confirmed it was an RS-RA, but it was literally just the shell with wheels, so it turned out to be a pointless exercise. I know the bloke who bought the engine from the car, and it lasted 700km, only the heads survived. The ECU still exists in a GT wagon. The worst part for me was the chassis was slightly twisted. Had to let it go, and couldn't take the doors, which had the STi stickers on them.

I kept the boot lid trim piece off it, but I'm not getting rid of it anytime soon.

I also have to ask, there aren't many of them around, so why essentially take another one of the road?

I have been working huge hours as usual and very little time to go online but here are a few more pictures. I have painted all the fuel lines and assembled the manifold again, I am painting more pieces black tonight and will hopefully have the replacement cambelt cover and a few more hoses in over the next few days so that I can put everything back on the engine and get it running again soon. As you can see I went and recovered the wiring loom as well to make it look good again, fortunately the connectors are in great condition. Also we sent the Ferrari F1 engine back this week and had the pipes ceramic coated so I thought you guys might like to see it now, they are very complicated to assemble back on the engine!

heres a couple of pictures of what I am doing right now, painting all the headlight buckets, bumper supports for the front and rear bumpers, the alt bracket and anything else that was black and had rust or could rust
also a picture of the air intake box after I cleaned it all up, now I'm just waiting for the paint to dry before adding another coat

Project looks good. As far as the dealer goes it looks like you have a good case for fraud as he was actively concealing major defects with the camera angles. when asked about defects did not show all the problems which were obvious, as you wouldn't have bought the car or paid as much. Definitely fraud.

I have a legacy RS-RA rear garnish I'd be willing to part with, someone else wanted it but I haven't heard from them in a little while. I was going to do an rs-ra replica, even had the motor (already sold), but budget constraints forced me to abandon the project.

There's a Subaru scrap yard outside of Portland called Laurel Auto Body (lots of people call it John's parts). The contact is John Lenley at 503-985-7110 or 800-571-9955. I've picked up lots of small parts/pieces the dealer doesn't sell seperately or wants your left testicle, plus cash.

I don't know if he ships (most likely) or what costs are, but he has over 100 Subies on his lot and a wide range of models and years. It's the "go to" place around Portland. I'm sure he'll have parts you need.

GL with the build. I'm jealous of your shop work space.

I will have more pictures and information about this project when I have it running, I have had to stop some of the plans because of the amount I have spent on it and also have to get it running to have it smogged for registration before temp plate expires in a few days

Here are a couple more pictures of the project. I now have the car smogged and registered and drove it to Las Vegas today so that I can pick up some of my things and have a windshield fitted while I am here. I would really like to mention Subaru of Las Vegas again, Ken who is the parts manager there has been outstanding with his help on both of my recent projects ( my 05 Impreza and My Legacy) I will have to organise a few more of the pictures and post some of it all together. I did not have time to paint the bumpers and rear wing however I will get those done shortly. I still have a lot of things to fix or replace including the air conditioning compressor is very noisy ( I think it is the clutch) and the diff is worn out, it has a huge amount of backlash so I will probably just replace it. I think the starter solenoid is bad but I need to check the safety switch first and also the fuel pump needs to be replaced.....on and on it goes. I was really careless in purchasing this vehicle, I believed the salesman at Auto 4 Less in Texas and he was very very dishonest and the pictures he sent made the car look like it was premium when it was far from it, I really need to do something about it but I am not sure what.
Anyway I will take some pictures tomorrow and post them so you can see the project at this point! It needs so much more work but I would say at this point it would be more like I thought it was going to be like when I bought it

That is exactly what I thought. First I was jealous of the project, then I was even more jealous of your garage.

Thanks, it has taken a lot of work, money is always the big problem with these projects, it needed much more work than I was informed about before I bought it but at least the body was in good condition. here are a few more pictures I took today

I got it from the dealer Subaru of Las Vegas, I think it was either the front grill or that piece was the last one that SOA had, however I will get you the part number and I can check while I am at the dealership on Monday also.

Looks great! Those first gen Legacies were really handsome in the turbo trim. They've actually aged really well, too.

Where are you located, OP? I've actually got a spare legacy turbo AC compressor if you want... hell, it would just be cool to see this car in person. My 93 SS is almost running again, and this thread has been really inspiring.

I had a great day today, I am thrilled to say I have purchased a full factory wrc engine. It is without intake and exhaust manifolds but I will be able to get those. I am still planning a legacy rs ra build in the future and this engine is going in for sure! I can not explain how excited I am about the Idea of a Legacy with a full blown wrc engine in it....man that will be awsome
