I don't like my front windows tinted, couldn't see well a night. My rear windows and hatch have one way tint for security though.

Ive been pulled over like six times recently because of my windows. These officers are just looking for a quick and easy ticket.I always seem to be either on my way to or from work when I get pulled over so as soon as I roll down my windows and they see my uniform they usually dont even run my license.

Ive gotten a tint ticket already. Rolled my front windows down but he knew they were tinted because all my back ones were. I was pulled over for speeding so i knew the ticket was more concerned with that than a $100 tint ticket. I broke the law and deserved the fine. 15% rear 20% front. wish i wouldve went 5 % all around.

After googling legal tint levels, it seems like its OK to tint the front windows? Is it really illegal? I'm confused >.>

incorrect! lol.
the only window you're allowed to have tinted is your rear most window. (this pertains to smaller cars, sedans, wagons, etc) i had 20% tint on all my windows on my wagon, i've been pulled over and ticketed about 7 times in the past three years. they probably would've never noticed me if it wasn't for my loud exhaust, but i've only gotten 1 exhaust ticket. weird. i removed my back window tint because it got scratched up pretty bad and i haven't gotten pulled over since, probably because the cops can see through the back window when they're behind me and that makes them think i don't have any other windows tinted. lol. |

I got pulled over at night in the city last week for the rear side windows being tinted. Sitting at a light and he was right next to me and blipped the lights and told me to pull over. I had to explain that it comes that way from the factory and even had to open the Subaru website on my phone and show him. Because I "argued" with him I received an appearance ticket and will get stuck paying at least the paperwork fee and will lose a day at work.
What really sucked about sitting there talking to him was three cars ran red lights right in front of us while we were talking and at least a dozen people on bikes were riding the wrong way on a one way street, most of them with no lights on the bikes, and he actually had the balls to tell me that none of those infractions were as dangerous as my extra dark tint. I used to respect cops and think that they actually were there to serve and protect. The older I get the less I believe it especially after getting hosed by improperly written accident reports that screwed me out of a lot of money. |

NJ we can have whatever on the rear. The front driver passenger and windshield cannot be tinted. I have them on knowing if I get ticketed for it I wont complain and pay |

Move to philly and you can tint all you want PLUS remove your front plate!
Cops here have real crime to deal with. |

def varies by state.. and certainly by town/county.. alot of the times, u just gotta face the music and pay up.. prob is, with the MVC not doing "safety" inspections, cops are taking full of advantage.. |

It is very dangerous to cops because everyone who has a tint drives around with a gun and shoots cops instead of paying speeding tickets..... The truthzzzz lol. Solution: take all guns from civilians, give them to law enforcement, let law enforcement tint windows.
In response to thread: I doubt anyone will bother you for 35% sides and back and sun bar on front (unless you live in very strict area). (*sighs* and qualifies statement by saying I have 4 family members in law enforcement) |

Is it not dangerous for drivers who get pulled over by state troopers with their cars all tinted out?

When in doubt call 911 when being stopped by an unmarked tinted car....don't think cops have the same option.

Maybe I'm bitter on the subject because i think it's more of do what I say and not as I do. Many cops have tinted windows, but it's a safety issue. Many cops talk on their cell phone when they drive, but if I do it it's a ticket. If the law applied to everyone I wouldn't mind it as much. I had tinted windows on my VW, but didn't bother on my WRX. If I had a black leather interior as I did in that car I'd tint it again and just bite the bullet. But i hate hearing the safety thing. It's a dangerous job and if we were doing everything possible to make it safe I wouldn't be allowed to put up blinds in my house. |
