Question Anyone w/Gruppe-S Up-pipe?....Opinions?

Hi everyone,

Just wondering if any of you are using the Gruppe-S up-pipe, and what your opinions of it are? (fitment, ***ANY LEAKS or CEL's***(check engine lights), performance gain, etc.)

It's only $150, and I'm wondering if the fit and function are adequate enough, or should I spend the extra $100+ for one of the other up pipes on the market--VISHNU, PDE, etc.

I'm considering getting one in the VERY near future (next couple of days), so I'd greatly appreciate any quick feedback or suggestions.

Thanks in advance,

CL

hey, i had mpj install a gruppe-s uppipe.. as far as i know the install went flawlessly.. so far no leaks (re-used old gaskets).. the pipe has solid welds and as gruppe-s likes to say "a properly designed sensor bung".. 150$ well spent..

I have one on my car. Perfect fit, even if you reuse the stock gaskets. Just make sure to follow the proper torque sequence.

Just received mine this morning, along with the header they sell in a package. Superb quality overall. I intend to do the install next week and will report back. Looks like great quality at a very fair price.

Cheers,

Kevin

I honestly don't see why uppipes aren't ~$60

14" of pipe, one maybe two bends, two flanges..............nuff said.

But this is a comparatively good deal ~$150 considering what other vendors uppipes run.

I just installed my Gruppe-S uppipe yesturday! It's sweet! I had to use aftermarket(thicker) gaskets for it to seal though. I torqued everything down in the correct order and the factory gasket would never seal. But the uppipe is very close to Vishnu quality! I love it!

Smile Thanks

Thanks for the input and reviews, guys. Sounds like the Gruppe-S is a solid & well-engineered piece, like most of the products they sell. I know they have great customer service, which definitely is a major plus! Looks like I'll stop by their shop tomorrow and pick one up.

I was originally going to sell my WRX (might still) and am going to swap in the stock exhaust manis w/my MRT header/up pipe. I just wanna have a little fun until I finally do sell, so I'm gonna try the Gruppe S up pipe. I'll let you guys know how it turns out.

Thanks,

CL

Question Gasket Source in Bay Area?

(stock up pipe gaskets)

Anyone in the Bay Area manage to get them for close to this? My local SUBARU dealer, Ron Price in South San Francisco seems to ream customers on parts. They charge 20%+ more than other dealers, so I don't wanna get taken when buying the up pipe gaskets. I need the stock exh mani ones too.

Thanks,

CL

Gruppe-S website does not have much information on the uppipe, so I have some questions:

1 - What is the flange thickness of the Gruppe-S uppipe?
2 - What is the inner diameter of the pipe?
3 - What material is used for the pipe? 304 stainless? 321?

Thanks in advance.

i was considering gettin the perrin up pipe, but i just saw this one and now i can't decide which way to go. i dont think i can justify spending almost $100 more for something of similar quality.

the perrin is 321 stainless, the gruppe s is 304 stainless, but thats basically the only difference from what i can tell.

someone that has the gruppe s...does it give you EGT sensor cels? also...how does the quality compare? will it have any future problems with cracking or leaking?

im ready to buy one of these but i would rather use the money i save with the gruppe s on a downpipe. is it worth it to go with perrin? or is gruppe s equally as good?

They are.

One stock uppipe = ~$40.
One cat gutting = Free
Zero new flanges = Free
Total = Much less than aftermarket uppipe.

Talking Nice Unit

Hey guys,

Just an update. I picked up the GRUPPE-S up pipe before the weekend and had it installed yesterday. The unit is VERY nice--thick, well cut flanges w/clean welds, and smooth bends.

I am definitely pleased w/the construction of the up pipe. As far as it's performance, you'll have to stay tuned for a review. I have a leak in my exhaust because the downpipe to exhaust pipe nuts were misplaced. I don't think the up pipe is leaking though...****KNOCK ON WOOD****

So far, the only assessment I can give is that my car definitely is louder. I didn't want to open her up because the fumes from the exhaust leak were getting pretty bad on the drive home--50+ miles in the rain too @ 3:30am!

Btw, GRUPPE-S's service & crew are even nicer than the build of their up pipe! BIG THUMBS UP to Max, Gary, & Mike!!

Gotta go tighten up my exhaust now and go for a ride....found some new 14mm nuts, & it's stopped raining!
