Good car-camping spots, or unload the bike off your impreza and ride that, or take the subaru-keys and go for a hike on many many trails.
Also miles of scenic park road you and your scooby. If you get it, you get it .

Default Pedernales falls is very nice

Nice sites, fishing, etc. although the drive out there is nothing special. Stay away from Somerville - north end is under water, south end will be overrun by 400 cub scouts and their families this weekend!! (don't ask me how I know...)

I'll put in my 2¢ for Colorado Bend, nice 10 mile gravel road back to it, you really feel isolated, unless or course there are 400 scouts there.

Lost Maples would be good, or anyplace near the Frio, Utopia area.

Have fun, weather is perfect!

It's ~2.5 hours west southwest, beautiful country, hills, twisties, views, not too many people.

http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/park/lostmap/

<snip>
11/14/02 Report: The majority of the maple trees are now changing color. Look for more muted colors this year, due to the earlier wet and warm weather, which also caused some leaves to drop early. The best viewing now is along the one-mile of roadway to the picnic area and the first one-mile of the hiking trails. Please note that the color conditions can change quickly due to the weather, so visitors may want to call ahead. Rainy and windy weather will cause the leaves to fall. The weather has been dry and somewhat cooler since early last week. Expect heavy weekend crowds through Thanksgiving.

<snip>

Hmm, that last sentance...

oh well good luck

Oh you might try this place...
http://www.phoenixnest.com/

We stayed in the cabin for 2 nights a while back, really country. They have a ton of land, maybe they'll let you camp out by the stock tank.

But then there's hunters to deal with,

oh well good luck and have fun.

I look for the least popular places, as I have an aversion to *people*
