Is BOV worth it?
Have a 2012 sti with access port and downpipe was wondering if purchasing a BOV is worth it? Thanks

Worth what?
Why do you want one? Venting to atmosphere, especially without a tune, is just going to cause the car to run very rich during/quickly after shifts/dethrottling |

Hope this video answers all of your questions about BOVs and whether or not you should really spend the money.

like if it's worth to buy? I don't really want one just heard people say to get it others not to and I have been reading and yes I know about the running rich. I wanted more opinions on the matter thanks!

You don't need it so I say no. If you really want to make fancy noises get a Cobb SF intake and flash the proper AP map.

Just enjoy the Cobb catback and Invidia catted downpipe together. No BOV needed.

No. Your BPV is fine for quite a bit of boost ~20lbs for quite a while.
There is no reason to spend the money unless you plan on running some race gas and tuning for like 26 psi or something. But, at that point you're going to want a built motor with some head studs, yada yada. Anyways, long story short. No, not worth it for where you are at. |

You do not need one. If you want one, that's a different story. I bought by car with one on there. Vents to atmosphere. It does sound cool but gets old after a while and it draws attention not just by noise, it causes you to run rich and makes flames shoot out of Catless exhaust systems.
I've learned to live with it. |

To answer your question in your other thread, yes, you definitely will notice a difference between stage 1 and 2. Your dyno tune will make an even bigger difference. That down pipe really lets your engine exhale. Plus it allows your turbo to supply about 19 pounds of boost instead of 16 or so at stage 1.
Who's going to do your dyno tune? |

That's a damned good deal! e85 is available out there. Are you planning on having your car tuned for it? If so, Harvey will most likely suggest higher flowing injectors and a fuel pump.

That's cool that you know Harvey! I still don't know I want to, there is a gas station right by my house that has e85 the thing is I've been reading and sometimes the car won't start due to the extreme cold I've been doing research and some people are using block heater.

They were needed for the old DSM with their ****ty plastic leaking BOV's. They made most of them to recirc.
I loved the sound honestly. Would I have spent $200 for just sound? probably not, but it was needed on a DSM with the stock one prone to leaking. |

Stickies? What the hell are they? Why would I research before asking anything?

The louder your blow off valve is the more BJs you get, true story
no it isn't just correlation, it is causation. so yes it is worth it |

No one mentioned that the intake he plans on getting will pretty much give him a bov sound and apparently result in BJs?

Bov is not worthy if you just have downpipe and accessport. Performance wise the only thing you will gain is the bov sound and leak. All sound no go.
