If your ABS light is on, the stock dccd will often default to manual mode and flash or go fully open.
You are probably having trouble with your abs tones on the axle's you stated were "wrong". |

I pulled my ABS fuse to disable my ABS, and my DCCD works perfectly fine. It may depend on what's wrong in terms of how it affects DCCD. I'm not stock though, 6sp swap in a Forester, so who knows.

So, you swapped an STi 6mt into a Forester? And you think the DCCD is working fine? Interesting. Not saying it is impossible, because it is possible depending on the level of complexity of the swap, but very rare.
However, one thing I can assure you of, is that no factory STi dccd system is working "fine" without the abs system fully functioning and talking to it. Are you sure you don't have one of my dccd controllers running the dccd? That's the only way I can think of that you are successfully running no abs and have a fully functioning dccd system. |

the controller he makes is a replacement for the stock DCCD controller mainly for people using a DCCD equipped transmission in a vehicle that didn't come with one. The problem being that the stock DCCD controller talks to the ECU the ABS and has special sensors such as pitch/yaw and steering input, that non DCCD equipped vehicles lack making the DCCD either useless or with a little wiring a full manual controlled lockup. What the DCCD pro controller does is allow for swapped cars to have an automatic (and manual) control over their DCCD lock up.
So what he's saying is that if your 6mt was swapped in and your DCCD works, most likely your using one of his controllers, because to swap everything necessary and do all the wiring would be an overly complicated and unnecessary undertaking. If you are using a DCCD pro controller, then the ABS status of the car is irrelevant, it uses input from the TPS, e-brake switch, and a gyro (provided with the unit). Unlike the stock controller which without a functioning ABS unit will not work properly. What vehicle is this, and is the 6MT a swap, and from what?? what is the deal with the axles you are referring to? how are they wrong? I have a feeling that DCCDPro is right, and that your ABS light is on because your axles have the wrong "tones" (gear looking thing at the end of the CV joint which allows your ABS wheel sensors to tell how fast each wheel is turning) and is causing your ABS unit to throw a trouble code, which is causing the DCCD to not allow full functionality. |

Thanks Prodrive Dreams!
Yes, my unit is used in all types of Suby's, STi's included but it is rarer to find one in a stock STi. Usually someone who swaps out the stock STi dccd controller is looking for usb tuning or they want to use it as a track/autox car and want to eliminate the abs. Sorry I sort of hijacked your thread but I feel that Back Road Runner was providing some contradictory and possibly incorrect info for your situation. I suspect he has one of my controllers and possibly doesn't know he has one. But for your situation, I think you need to get a scan of the abs tones on those front axles. Or at least get in there and visually check if the tone rings line up with the sensors. I'd like to think that Forester axles probably have the same ring spacing...but who knows. Ideally you should probably get the correct axles in there if they are binding at turning extreme's as well. |
