Maybe he isn't responding because they were really a good company and he doesn't want to say he was wrong?

Their customer service is piss poor. I ordered a 3" anti-surge 20g compressor housing 5 days ago.

The billing address got messed up and I have sent two emails and left numerous phone messages with no reply.

Finally got an answer, had to send an email from their website from a comment box.

That got a quick response, and now everything is in order.

I'm excited to see this stuff show up.

Jeeeez yet another irrational "only made in USA" thread.

FYI I got Blouch turbo and had it on warranty TWICE. Yes service was good and friendly but still I had to pay for return labels and was without a car for few weeks.

And as for Taiwan=China and general geographic:

Sorry for threadjacking.

Just showed up today, now I can finish putting my turbo back together

Its actually a 3.25" inlet not a 3"

Looking at the serial number I noticed that these are the same compressor covers Forced Performance uses on their red, green, and black turbos.

Subscribed. Don't have a kamak turbo, but I got my turbo oil line kit and equal length header from them. Impressed by quality and affordability so far.

If you read all of this thread or the other Kinugawa threads on here..... you would have found that these are infact the housings that FP uses. They buy the parts to build their turbos from over seas and assemble them here. Kamak makes these parts, Kamak no longer sells complete turbos directly to the public. So other companies buy the turbos and parts from Kamak with no name stamped on them, and then brand name the turbo how ever they want with whatever they choose. Some use the complete Kamak turbo with their own name on it or some choose to use just the housings and make their own cartridge or change wheels of the cartridge. Catching on?

So yes, believe it or not people...... most turbo parts come from one place. Ever wonder why Kamak and Kinugawa both sell Genuine Mitsubishi, Garrett, IHI, Toyota, KKK brand name turbos? well do some research, all the parts for those turbos come from 1 place in Taiwan, and guess who makes those!? The quality of these is top notch, you ARE in FACT getting a turbo or parts from the same facility as the big names!

Few hours of research on the interwebzs and you will be able to verify this info. Buy a kinugawa turbo and want replacement parts? does Kamak sell the same version turbo? Just CALL Kamak turbo at the So Cal warehouse and get the parts you need!!

I could be wrong about Kamak being the actual manufacture/foundry for turbos, but from there bio and company directory it seems they are! If they are not, then its another company with a different name which none of us will actually ever know. But we do know that they come from the same factory!

I got an update. I purchased an FP green about a month ago. It lasted 2 weeks due to poor journal bearings. I paid 1200 for the FP green. I sent it in and they quoted me 960 for the rebuild. I am not going to have it rebuilt. This led me to doing research on kinugawa turbos.

I ordered a kinugawa TD06SL2-20g with 3" inlet. I am waiting for it to arrive today so I can install/tune it. I am welding the wg flap shut and running a 45mm turbosmart hypergate ewg. I can post pics and perhaps an airboy dyno shot if I get a chance to tune it today as well (depends on when the package arrives).

I have no doubt the turbo will perform well and may consider installing another one on my baja if this goes well.

I'll bump this thread. I'm running a TD06-SL2 20G with 8cm exhaust. Turbo performed admirably until a failed oil pump on brand new engine did it in. I have just replaced the CHRA and it is performing well. So well in fact that it's surging now. So I'll be ordering up an Anti-Surge housing and hopefully it'll be smooth sailing from here on out.
